Clinton Fights Back Tears

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. -- Just days after a poor showing in Iowa and hours after new polls show Hillary Clinton trailing Barack Obama in New Hampshire, it seems the pressures of the campaign have caught up to Clinton.

During a campaign stop with undecided voters at a coffee shop here, Clinton answered a variety of questions ranging from health care to education. But it was the final question that clearly affected Clinton.

She was asked how she gets up every morning and copes with the struggles of running for president. An admittedly tired Clinton answered the question emotionally, at one point welling up during her response.

"It's not easy. And I couldn't do if I just didn't you know passionately believe it was the right thing to do," Clinton told the crowd at Portsmouth's Cafe Espresso.

"This is very personal for me. It's not just political. It's not just public. I see what's happening. And we have to reverse it," she said as her voice began to crack and she held back tears.

"Some people think elections are a game and they think it's like who's up or who's down. It's about our country. It's about our kids; futures. And it's really about all of us together."

"You know some of us put ourselves out there and do this against some pretty difficult odds. And we do it each one of us because we care about our country. But some of us are right some and some of us are wrong. Some of us are ready and some of us are not. Some of us know what we will do on day one and some of us haven't really thought that through enough."

"So, as tired as I am, and I am, and as difficult as it is to keep up what I try to do on the road, like occasionally exercise, try to eat right - it's tough when the easiest food is pizza - I just believe so strongly in who we are as a nation. So i'm going to do everything I can to make my case and you know then the voters get to decide."

...Not being sexist or anything but that''s why a woman shouldn''t be president, if they show their emotions in a conference how will they holdup in everyday life, or during a national emergency?

There it is, another MAN who''s convinced women are solely motivated by their relationship to a MAN. Sorry, Hon, Hillary''s got more important worries about our country that motivate her to want to be Pres. so she can do something about them. The *** thing with men just isn''t as important to women as men like to think it is.

One thing Hillary has never done is try to make peple feel sorry for her. She has had some extremely difficult and humiliating issues to transcend in her lifetime and has proven her resiliency and strength. All women, and men, should give her the respect she deserves and be proud to vote for a person with such character, intelligence and obvious ability to be our (first female) president.
A man would be lauded for being as accomplished as she and demonstrating all of the above.
Let''s stay on point.

Politics is a rough business and Hillary is definitely tough. She''s had a tough time lately and is only human. Give her a break... but don''t feel bad about not voting for her.

I feel sympathy for Hillary, but my gut says she''s running to try and wipe the shame away from being humiliated by having the whole world hear about how Bill cheated on her with Monica right in her own home. Like she wants revenge against the Republicans and she wants to feel empowered and in control of the White House in a way that she wasn''t the first time around.

Gore didn''t insist on a ''do-over'' after his unjust defeat in 2000 and he''s doing more than okay. I think when somebody''s acting from passion their interests find a way to better society no matter what.

I think motive is a HUGE part of Hillary''s problem because people will sense when somebody is dysfunctional and for the most part will want to withdraw from that - it''s human nature.
