CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA -- For a man who says he doesn't make predictions, Mitt Romney sure makes a lot of predictions.

Romney has recently taken to paraphrasing baseball legend Yogi Berra's famous remark, "It's tough to make predictions, especially about the future." But speaking to reporters about the Iowa caucuses just two days ago, the candidate said, "I think I'm going to win."

Over the past day and a half, the former Massachusetts governor has backed off of that confident claim. At a press conference in Bettendorf today, he said, "I can't possibly predict that I'm gonna take first place in any particular state."

Whether or not he thinks he's going to win the Iowa piece of the nominating puzzle, Romney says he foresees himself as being the ultimate victor.

"I honestly believe that I'm gonna get the nomination for our party," Romney said today. "And I can't tell you exactly which states will come my way and what events will pull my way—what events will pull the other way—but ultimately I think I'll be the nominee."

Not that he'd make any predictions.

Mitt Romney is all bitter now that he spent $80,000,000 (million) dollars in campaigning funds where Mike Huckabee has spent less than $2 million.

This is the biggest upset in political history. It''''s a great example for the young voters out there.

Don''''t give up on your dream just because you are not extremelly rich. It doesnt take gobs of money to become famous, it takes honesty, humbleness, integrity, charisma and fun down to earth personality.

Don''''t let the critics who mock you, who scorn you, who critize you, who laugh at you bring you down.

Mike Huckabee is bringing to America a new American spirit. He is bringing everyone up to Higher ground.

Don''''t give up on your dreams in life, keep your strength and just remember that if underdog Mike Huckabee can win Iowa it''''s not the dog in the fight, it''''s the fight in the dog that wins!

You can do this with any candidate or any person. All of the good CBS journalists have left to other organizations and we%u2019re left with Scot. Without making predictions, I can''t imagine he would want to trade positions with anyone else right now.
