Edwards Supporter: Obama's "Not Ready Yet"

From CBS News' Aaron Lewis:

MT. PLEASANT, IOWA -- Newsflash: John Edwards thinks he can beat Barack Obama.

Edwards was asked the "No Duh!" question about whether he could win against the Illinois senator at a canvass kickoff party in Mt. Pleasant this morning in front of two or three dozen people.

After answering a definite "yes," the questioner replied, "He's not ready yet."

Replied Edwards, "Well you're saying that... But keep saying it, particularly between now and tomorrow night."

This allowed his wife Elizabeth an opportunity to jump in and make a point about a radio commercial she heard for Obama. According to her, the ad claimed that Obama's health plan covered more people than either Edwards's or Hillary Clinton's plans. This put Mrs. Edwards in the unlikely position of defending Hillary Clinton.

"It's just complete untruth," she said. "I'll speak on behalf of Senator Clinton as well. Both Senator Clinton's and John Edwards's health care plans cover one hundred percent of Americans and Senator Obama's does not."

At a media avail following the event Edwards was skeptical that Dennis Kucinich's decision to throw his non-viable support toward Barack Obama.

"It's very hard to tell Iowa caucusgoers what to do," he said. "I think they'll make up their own minds."

Also, Edwards is riding now in a THIRD different bus during this 36-hour marathon excursion. This new bus replaces the coach bus that they scrambled to replace the Main Street Express when it broke down overnight. The change was made again to accommodate desks and other workspace for staffers.

Spokesman Mark Kornblau is still confident, however, that the Main Street Express will make a return by day's end once they fix what's suspected to be a broken alternator.

So, in case you're keeping track, the Edwards campaign is averaging a new bus every 8 hours or so.

OBAMA IS PHONEY BALONEY.

he has absolute zero to say, other than "CHANGE! FIRED UP! I''M NOT WHITE!"

Edwards is a committed and principled fighter who will roll back the abuses of corporate and Repugnican traitors.

Obama? "I''M BLACK!! OPRAH DIGS ME!! KIDS DIG ME!! ALL RIGHT!!!"

Obama is a PHONEY and you are FOOLS to support him over Edwards.

And those of you afraid of health care reform, watch Sicko and learn that the UK and Canada kick our privatized ***** ten ways from Sunday.

That''''s a pretty ridiculous statement. Contrary to Hillary''''s campaign to label Obama as the least experienced candidate, John Edwards is, followed by Hillary. Obama has spent more time as a lawmaker than EITHER of them. And other than the one term as a senator, Edwards has no pertinent political experience at all.

please read carefully, fellow commentors:

this article said the questioner was the one who said ''obama''s not ready''. and edwards said well, it''s you saying it, just keep saying it...

edwards wouldn''t be so silly as to directly say that himself, cuz he too ran for president last election with as much experience as obama.

it''s just that, well, edwards is a better candidate, that''s all.

btw, if you actually look at edwards'' health care plan, it works so that people can afford it, or else, you''d fall under basically a type of super medicaid. please see johnedwards.com/issues.

yes, i''m cheerleading, go edwards go go!

Edwards has some nerve to say Obama is not ready. This loser couldn''t carry his own state and thinks he''s better than Obama. He''s a phony who used to be a hedge fund pirate causing tons of poor people to lose their houses. His contrived populism will no fool anyone. He voted for the war when it was politically safe to so.He changed his mind about it when it was politically safe to do so.Pattern, anyone?
HRC and JE are both losers.

You have not fully understood Edwards plan if you think you have to pay more for universal Health coverage. You would be 100% covered if you make less than 100,000. a year he(Edwards) will pay for that by rolling back the tax cuts for Americans that make more than 200,000.00 You can choose to keep your current or this newly formed government one, He wants to create competition between these major players, and at the same time get health care coverage to those Americans who CANNOT afford any at all.Obama has been misleading people with this misinformation, and intentionally I might add. Can we ''Hope" he changes his negative spinning?

Spend one term in the US Senate, achieve NOTHING, sponsor NO bill, get every important bill WRONG - including NAFTA, the war in Iraq, patriots Act, etc, and suddenly, you''re an expert on Foreign Policy and qualified to be President.

Only in America is this delusion possible.
