Snow Doesn't Stop McCain's "Straight Talk Express"

HANCOCK, N.H. -- The New Year's Eve snow storm that swept through the region didn't stop the full house of New Hampshire voters from coming out to catch John McCain's appearance in Hancock this morning.

The McCain team and traveling press filed off of the Straight Talk Express and onto vans to navigate through the hazardous conditions. When we arrived at the home of Jarvis and Bobbie Coffin, McCain, as well as the press formed a line waiting for the hosts to make room for us.

McCain was energetic and spent more time than usual speaking about the economy. On the issue of mortgages and sub-prime lending he told the audience, "we have to give hard-working Americans some relief." He went on to say America must take care of displaced workers too. "I'm not a protectionist, I'm a free-trader but I want to help these workers."

Someone's phone went off in the middle of one of his answers and he joked, "Somebody get that it might be the phone," and the room laughed. "It might be John Edwards saying he supports the McCain surge," he added.

During Q & A, 71-year-old Judith Stout from Hancock, N.H., said she doesn't think federal money should be spent on war. McCain and Stout agreed that it was too late to discuss whether or not the U.S. should have invaded Iraq.

"If we pulled out and said we couldn't pay, we'd pay a heavy price in blood and treasure," McCain explained.

Yes, straight talk. Also backbone, courage, high energy, good humor, deep compassion, a willingness to listen and an excellent open mind that draws on miles of experience to reconcile for the common good.

That John McCain is willing and able to continue serving our country adds hope to these difficult times. Look carefully -- the record stands for all to see.

John McCain is America at its best -- there is no one like him in politics anywhere. Do not miss this opportunity -- vote McCain.

John McCain has already spoken about his understanding of the American view toward immigration. To not listen to his message that he understands America''s views toward his original belief about immigration, and how he understands that America told him different, is foolish.

To state that John McCain "is past his prime" or that he "can not bring a fresh approach" to anything shows your lack of understanding.

John McCain seems to be the last chance for America to unite and work together for a common good. If we are to unite as a nation, we need to unite together and stop the politics of division.

While you may not agree with him on a few issues, I ask you...please, tell me a politician you agree with 100%. Please... name one politician you believe represents your beliefs 100%?

John McCain can actually unite this nation because although we may not agree with him on some things, we should be able to agree that it is time to find someone that can find a middle ground.

I think it is time we allow someone to lead us in a unified direction.

I believe John McCain can be that person.

What America needs is a landslide victory in 2008 and to accomplish that feat, we need a leader. Personally, I don''t care who that leader is...I just want us all to stop the politics of division...

I believe John McCain can be the leader America needs to accomplish this task.

Straight talk?

Is he going to talk about how he fought for amnesty for illegal aliens? Even the democratic governor of his state signed a recent law 180 degrees away from that position.

McCain is past his time, past his prime and is wrong on the major issues of the day. He has been in DC for so long he is almost a part of the buildings. He can not bring a fresh approach to the problem because he has been the problem for far too long.
