Thompson Shows His Lighter Side

From CBS News' John Bentley:

While Senator Thompson is usually pretty serious on the campaign trail, he's been letting his lighter side show through recently. Visiting a gun shop in downtown Missouri Valley, Iowa, he found a cardboard cutout of one of his favorite actors, John Wayne. The former actor couldn't help himself, so he moseyed on over to the Duke, put his arm around him, and did his best John Wayne impression.

At another stop, Thompson was asked if he was getting Sioux City d?j? vu because he's been there three times. He said he has the song "Sioux City Sue" running through his head, then proceeded to sing a little bit of the 1940's standard.

Check out both clips below:

Hey, I love Fred Thompson. He is the only candidate out there that truly understands the worldwide threat of Islamofascist terrorism, the domestic threat of illegal immigration on our cities, health care, and middle class, and how important it is to get back to LIMITING the size and cost of our government.

Listen to his off-the-cuff comments after the assassination of Bhutto today (I think it''s on Youtube and it is on his own website www.fred08.com ). He gets it. He''s very Presidential, even if he doesn''t look like a plastic Mister President doll like Mitt Romney. Fred looks like a REAL President.

I like his sense of humor, too!

Ok GiantRobot2... what''s wrong with Fred''s positions? You''ve got your personal mudslinging out of the way, so let''s hear what you''ve got. I''m waiting.

Heck I would rather watch and listen to the cardboard cut out of John Wayne than listen to Fred Thompson''s super boring dull rambling speeches that go no where.

If Fred Thompson doesnt have a script in his hand to read, it''s no use in trying to listen to what he says.

The president of the United States can''t keep a script in his hands constantly, it takes his own quick ability to respond to questions and events.

It''s time for Fred to drop out of the race. He''s not registering in the polls at all. It would be far better for him to bow out graciously now with honor than go thru Iowa getting thumped and being remembered for that instead.
