Clinton For Senate?

A little pre-feast political appetizer appears on the op-ed page of the Washington Post this morning, where authors Karl E. Meyer and Shareen Blair Brysac argue that the best replacement in the U.S. Senate for Hillary Clinton should she, as expected, become Secretary of State would be – her husband, former President Bill Clinton. From the op-ed:
Who in his party could question so historic and dazzling a choice? In a stroke, the appointment would provide Sen. Clinton's indefatigable husband with a fitting day job, serve the interests of a state beset by a meltdown in its most vital economic sector and offer a refreshing reverse twist on a tradition whereby deceased male senators, representatives or governors are succeeded by their widows.

Comical. Not the suggestion that a President would take a Senator''s position, with full time secret service at his elbow; rather, that anyone would join in bickering about the notion. What a waste of time, and the author knows it.

Senator & Secretary of State Clinton. I love how that sounds! And to think ALL OF THE OBAMA SUPPORTERS were stupid enough to believe Hillary''s career was over. Here''s your reality check. TRUE DEMOCRATS know who runs this party.

True, but I think we''''ve all seen enough of the Witch of Wasalia. More is just not necessary.

Please let this happen!!
Then let Palin run in 2012!!

The combination of a ''''Senator Bill Clinton'''' and another massive defeat will surely drive the rabid right insane. It would certainly be fun watching all of them gnaw off their arms.

On the surface, it would seem a logical move. President Clinton has extensive experience as both governor and president. That, in itself, is a great resume for transitioning to Senator. Clearly, he is more than qualified and would be a great leadership asset to the Senate.

On the other hand, there is an image issue that may suggest the decision to be less than stellar. There are many hard feelings over the sitting Senator Clinton having assumed her role (suggestion of ''carpetbagging''). While these are the ravings of right-wing extremists, they are nonetheless a dark cloud.

Ultimately, it is the decision of the Governor of New York to appoint a replacement to Hillary Clinton''s senate seat. Perhaps we can all stand by and await the Governor''s decision?
