Palin To Stump For Chambliss On Eve Of Runoff

The Georgia senate runoff has featured appearances by political heavyweights from both sides of the aisle (even President-elect Obama cut a radio ad for Democrat Jim Martin). Now, the big GOP gun is coming out as Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is set to join incumbent Republican Saxby Chambliss for a series of rallies across the state next Monday, a day before the runoff election.

That Palin will be in the state so close to the vote is a statement about her new role in the party. Because runoff elections tends to be "base" elections, Chambliss is looking to energize conservatives in the state for the runoff and Palin's presence is more evidence of her appeal to them. Other potential 2012 presidential candidates like Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani either have or plan to appear for Chambliss but Palin appears to be getting the job as the closer.

The race could give Democrats a 60-seat majority in the Senate depending on what happens in the Minnesota recount and saving the seat would be a rare victory for the GOP in the current environment. Palin could certainly get some credit as well. But Democrats retain hopes for taking the seat, as the Politico reports.

farouk7: I think it''''s clear that you are a city dweller and you don''''t understand those of us who live in the country and the small towns and you never will. We are different than you. We think differently, we act differently, we even eat differently than you even though most of us are just as educated as you city dwellers. Some of us even hold college degrees but still we are a different kind of people than you city dwellers. You''''ll never understand us and we don''''t understand you.

This is the kind of arrogance I really hate. You don''t understand because you don''t want to. If you were truly ''educated'' you''d be able to see shades of grey, not just black and white. From someone who has lived in small and large cities and grew up in a very rural area, I can assure you that you are not so difficult to understand. You may choose a simple life (and certainly a simple life view), but you don ''t get off the hook from someone pressing you on your opinions just by saying "You don''t understand."

Shockolit: If you really grew up in rural Georgia or anywhere else in rural America you would not be so shocked about a turkey being killed. Exactly where do you think the frozen turkeys in the stores came from? They were once live birds on a farm! If you really grew up in rural Georgia you would know that butchering animals is part of farm life just as much as seeing them hatch or be born. Sarah Palin is a country girl. She knows what happens on a farm even though they don''t have many farms in Alaska. I don''t think she really enjoys seeing an animal killed but she''s not shocked by it. I am the same way.

How do they know when they have killed enough wolves? What makes anyone think that they even care?

The woman likes to kill. You can see it in her psychological profile. Why do you think the turkey slaughtering in the background went right over her head? She actually called the whole thing fun.

Since she wants to come to Georgia, let her come and kill a few rattlesnakes instead of campaigning for one.

I do understand the rural and small town people in Georgia. I grew up that way. I understand you people better than you understand yourselves, and so do the ultra-wealthy MEN running the Republican party. That is why all y''all are so easily manipulated.

we country people will survive because we can hunt and fish and we know how to skin, clean, and cook what we bring home!

Funny, I haven''t heard of anyone eating Polar bear, but they are nearing extinction. Is that why Palin wants them removed from the protected species list? And the random slaughter of wolves from helicopters is just plain sick: over 800 so far this year, not counting the orphaned pups that are sure to die, or the wounded left to die in agony. And who is eating the wall trophies of bear heads or the bear rugs like the ones in Palin''s office.

You fail to recognise that human beings are also part of the animal world. And while it is important to be aware of the need for a food supply for human presumption, this need is not met by the random shootings that result in death but provide nothing for humans to eat. And lastly, I don''t think anyone is skinning, cleaning and cooking Polar bears in order to eat.

Unbelievable that the good people of Georgia have to listen to a 5 star idiot at this time. The Republicians could not stoop lower than to support this charade. If she can get votes for them then they deserve Mr. Chambliss. The State of Georgia should be held accountable by the Senate in D.C. if they blow their chance to have some positive input into how this country conducts it''s affairs. Listening to devisive idiots, promoting unrest, and voting like robots should not be rewarded.

With both losers, McCain and Palin now campaigning for Chambliss, that should certainly guarantee a LOSS for him as well. Furthermore, he is using images of 9/11 to promote FEAR as the base for the republican brand of campaigning. That should also keep him from winning if the people of Georgia are using their brains to think. If the GOP does not get rid of their fear mongering, it''s hard to see how anyone with a brain could continue to stand with them. Americans are sick to death of FEAR based politics.

Anyone with any sense, would vote for anyone but Palins choice, but many millions were deluded enough to think of her as something more than a pleasant tupper party hostess.
