Obama Discusses Aunt Reportedly Living In U.S. Illegally

On Monday, both the "Evening News" and "Early Show" will broadcast
an interview with Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama
. One question from the forthcoming interview appeared on the Evening News Sunday night, and it concerned reports that Obama's aunt lives in the U.S. illegally. Here's the full exchange:

Katie Couric: You have an aunt who's been living in this country apparently illegally, and your campaign says any and all appropriate laws should be followed. So would you support her being deported to Kenya?

Barack Obama: If she is violating laws those laws have to be obeyed. We're a nation of laws. Obviously that doesn't lessen my concern for her, I haven't been able to be in touch with her. But I'm a strong believer you have to obey the law.

It doesn''t matter what he says, republicans scream foul -- if he says she should be deported, he''s heartless. If he defends her, he''s breaking the law. What I want to know is WHO leaked this story, WHO violated the privacy? Hmmm... I can''t imagine who it might have been....

If she is here illegally like so many Mexicans and others, she needs to leave and come back LEGALLY.

Feel sorry for you folks who revealed this aunt thing. You think Joe had it rough, you folks ain''t seen nothing yet. CNN, NBC, and CBS are on the way. If you are in Ohio, the Sec of State will authorize the welfare bunch to illegally search your personal records and then publish them nationwide. Yes, the MSM is always fair and balanced. You went much farther than just asking a question. You revealed. Shame on you.

If the same thing had happened with a republican politician (Delay, Stevens), the Aunt would have been there legally for a long time. A few bribes here and there ...

You can''t choose a compassionate birthplace but you can choose to live compassionately. You can''t choose which laws you are born under but you can choose to live under the law. Hey Neederbaur, where can I get a copy of that book you keep quoting. Sounds as if the writer has done the soul searching that is needed to find the inner wisdom and strength we need for true leadership.

The problem I have with this story is why we haven''t heard the necessary details. I''m fine with Obama on what he''s saying. But, we have not heard how she has been able to stay in public housing if indeed she is illegal. Now, I know you can''t. You can''t even live with someone there who is legal, without having something. That''s why I don''t believe she is illegal, and I completely believe that Obama was unaware of it.

Obama is not going to experience the woes of immigrants! He doesn''t care about Auntie! He doesn''t care! If he had cared, he would not have taken her 260 contribution. He is trying to stuff her in the closet with his associates (Wright,ayers, khalidi,Frank marshall davis, derrick bell, alinsky,raines, gorelick,johnson,Rezko) The closet is FULL! The media has to help Obama keep that door closed b/c the bones keep coming out!!!
