Obama Ahead In … Montana?

A new poll conducted by Montana State University-Billings shows Barack Obama leading John McCain in the state by a 44 percent to 40 percent margin. Both candidates did well among their party's base but Obama had an edge among independents, the poll found. Respondents widely said they thought McCain had run a more negative campaign while Obama held an edge on economic issues, the AP notes. The poll found that 70 percent of those polled though it was either somewhat or very likely that the U.S. will experience an economic depression.

The train has left the station and McCain is not on it. I think he could have won this election had he picked someone with smarts as his VP. Instead, he picks someone who is too stupid to punch her way out of a wet paper bag. He follows that up with the dirtiest campaign in the history of the country. And, he wonders why he''s losing?

Just had some relatives visiting from Montana, and they said they had WAY more Obama signs up in their town (Bozeman) compared to McCain. Not a very scientific barometer - but Montana is not a sure bet for McCain by any stretch.

Montana has a plan to produce energy using some sort of sludge of soil and oil that can be refined into crude. If, the McCain-Palin Administration are allowed to take power the People of Montana%u2019s future for prosperity as a major energy producer will be impeded in favor of large Multinational Oil Corporations and the current status quo of controlled and manipulated oil production for energy.

dburfears is right in saying Obama was not ahead. With only 403 interviews the poll has a margin of error of +/-5% so it''s a statistical tie. But the race might truely be close up there since the Obama campain has put money and manpower in that state, while McCain has to focus on the bigger states.
