Something In The Ayers Today
Barack Obama's campaign is running a radio spot in key states that goes further into the candidate's past relationship with William Ayres, the former member of the Weather Underground. As Politico's Ben Smith notes, the ad is similar to a TV ad the campaign has run in that it takes on what it calls "smears" on the topic, but goes into more detail on Ayers.
"Bill Ayers is a professor of education who once served with Obama on a school reform board, a board funded by conservative Republicans tied to McCain," the ad says. "When Ayers committed crimes in the '60s, Obama was 8 years old. Obama condemned those despicable acts. Ayers has had no role in Obama's campaign, and will have no role in his administration. And John McCain? With no plan to fix our economy, smears are all he has left."
The RNC responded to the ad with a statement from spokesman Danny Diaz. "According to Barack Obama's new ad, Bill Ayers is a 'professor of education who once served with Obama on a school reform board,'" Diaz said in the statement. "What Obama doesn't tell voters is that he made an independent judgment to befriend an unrepentant terrorist who headed an organization that killed Americans, and targeted men and women in uniform. Barack Obama's failed judgment led him to put his career before our country and it disqualifies him as a reasonable or serious candidate for the presidency."
Also, in a video message to supporters, Obama campaign manager David Plouffe warned of some tought fights ahead. "The only way we're going to fight back in the next 22 days against these smears and win this election, is for you, out in the states, to make sure that you're talking to your neighbors," Plouffe said, adding that some of has been said about "terrorists" goes "beyond the pale."
Washingtonpost.com's Ed O'Keefe reports that the McCain campaign's Michael Goldfarb responded to those comments by saying: "The 'terrorists' in question would be William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, the husband and wife team behind the Weather Underground, a group responsible for attacks against the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol. … The only thing 'beyond the pale' here is the Obama campaign's failure to explain how it is that Barack Obama carried on a decade long friendship with a man who sought to topple the U.S. government through violence."

"My government is my worst enemy. I''''m going to fight them with any means at hand."
?
This is how the REPUBLICAN OPERATE NOW.
When confronted with the FACTS OR THE TRUTH they simply deny them and twist them.
The sun could be shining in the sky. If that fact does not suit their needs, they will say, "I don''t see any sun here", or "That does not look like the sun to me", or "The media is responsible for saying that is the sun, I have not seen any proof".
All of this while they are getting a sunburn.
Are Americans STILL FALLING FOR THEIR LIES?
reporting a story that McCain was wrong about the link between Obama and Ayers. There is no mistake there. I have read many stories about how they are linked. maybe you should get your fact checker to do more research and get your head out of obama''s @#$.
You should be ashamed to call yourself a journalist touting this liberal that is partially to blame for the housing market collapse and ties to a terrorist . google acorn or woods fund you might find some info you have looked over.
The truth hurts but I will never be a name caller but only one that is true.

HEAD OF McCAIN''S PRESIDENTIAL TRANSITION TEAM LOBBIED FOR TERRORIST SADDAM HUSSEIN
NEW Report TODAY:
William Timmons, the Washington lobbyist who JOHN McCAIN has named to HEAD HIS PRESIDENTIAL TRANSITION TEAM, aided an influence effort on BEHALF of IRAQI DICTATOR SADDAM HUSSEIN to ease international sanctions against his regime.
Timmons'' activities occurred in the years following the first Gulf War, when Washington considered Iraq to be a ROGUE ENEMY STATE and a sponsor of TERRORISM.
In 1992, and for FIVE YEARS after, Timmons worked closely with two lobbyists, Samir Vincent and Tongsun Park, LOBBYING FOR a prospective deal with SADDAM HUSSEIN to purchase and resell Iraqi oil. Timmons, Vincent, and Park stood to share at least $45 MILLION if their deal went through.
Virtually everything Timmons did during his lobbying campaign was WITHIN DAYS conveyed to SADDAM HUSSEIN''S top aides, Tariq Aziz and Nizar Hamdoon. IRAQI replies were sent back to Timmons. Proposals that TIMMONS HIMSELF CIRCULATED to U.S. OFFICIALS as part of the effort were WRITTEN WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF IRAQI OFFICIALS, and Timmons sent these proposals to IRAQI OFFICIALS for advance approval.
An investigator on the U.N. investigation said of Timmons: "He would have to be the most naive person in the world to believe that (he was not lobbying for Saddam). I guess William Timmons is just a natural born oilman. He is either deceiving himself to rationalize what he has done or taking the rest of us for fools."

McCain''s campaign is LYING about the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC), set up by the Annenberg Foundation to reform public schools. Walter Annenberg is a well-known philanthropist and CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN.
%u201CThe idea that the Annenberg Challenge was somehow the extension of the Weather Underground of the 1960%u2019s, that is just one of the most LUNATIC CONTENTIONS I can imagine,%u201D says Mike Flannery, political editor at the CBS Chicago affiliate WBBM who covered Chicago politics for 35 years. "Those of us who have covered politics in Chicago... simply don''t recognize the caricatures and the RIDICULOUS descriptions of this group."
Flannery says the other people on the BOARD of the CAC with Obama and Ayers were "BUSINESS TYPES AND REPUBLCANS."
Obama chaired the board of the CAC but he DID NOT SERVE ON THE BOARD WITH AYERS. Ayers served on a SEPARATE advisory board.
%u201CThis was NOT the Bill Ayers and Barack Obama show,%u201D says Ken Rolling who was the Executive Director of the CAC and ran the organization, %u201CIt was created by a hundred people.%u201D
Rolling says that the CAC funded programs with the following purpose:
teacher training
music education
initiatives to strengthen parental involvement in public schools.
after school programs
improvements for literacy
arts programs
support for new school council candidates
education research
