Palin's Daughter Pregnant

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has announced that her 17-year-old daughter is five months pregnant. The announcement is "intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child," says the Reuters news service, which carried the first report.

(AP)
In a statement, the Palin family says that Bristol Palin is "about five months pregnant" and that she intends to marry the father. "We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us," the Palins said in the statement. "Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support."

The Palin family asked the media to "respect our daughter" and her privacy. According to the Reuters report, John McCain's campaign was aware of the pregnancy when the Arizona senator selected Palin to be his running mate last week.

Update: The following is the full Palin statement as released by the McCain campaign:

"We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us. Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We're proud of Bristol's decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support."

"Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media to respect our daughter and Levi's privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates."

Update: Asked about the revelation while campaigning in Michigan, Barack Obama said, "I think peoples families are off limits and people's children are especially off limits." CBS News' Maria Gavrilovic has more.

Who cares if Palin's daughter is pregnant, kids do whatever they want alot of the time, I know. Her daughter made a mistake, she has to deal with it, parents can't watch their kids 24-7. I don't think it should influence your opinion of Palin, just the daughter and they are 2 very different people.

I am going to start with most of these people defending Palin are probably the same ones who condemned Miley cyrus a few month''s back for showing her bare back..Second i am not going to say Palin is a bad mother but, Lets start with the fact this woman has 5 young children not 1 or 2 but 5 and she is having a problem managing them so how do you expect her to manage our country on top of them..I mean you might as well put her daughter on foodstamps because we all know it''s going to be our tax money that supports her anyway...To be quite frank a 17 year old cannot support a infant expecially not in the life style this kid is used to living in...So why she sits high and mighty are taxes will be paying her mommys salary..Which in end is going to be supporting her and her child so she and her soon to be hubby can finish school ...Boy what a break McCain gave this family if the republicain party could just do that for those of us that don''t 100 of thousands of dollars a year

To all the ppl who think this is a public issue and makes Palin a person with poor judgement and unfit to be president are the same ones who told the world that Bill Clintons sexual escapades in the Oval office were no ones business. They even defended it and didnt think it reflected poor judgement...The Liberal Dems have no footing here at all.

Place Your Bets On Palin (Dropping Out)
As reported by the Huffington Post, the Intrade prediction market has opened trading on the chances of Sarah Palin being "withdrawn as Republican VP nominee before 2008 presidential election." As of 4:15pm Tuesday, the market predicts that there is a 14.5% chance that this will happen.

NO RECORD OF PALIN ''SON'' TRIG BORN ON THE DATE CLAIMED ... THIS IS BRISTOL 2ND PREGNANCY NOT THE 1ST!!!
http://www.mediatakeout.com/2008/26353-more_palin_drama_no_record_of_palin_son_trig_born_on_the_date_claimed__daughter_supposedly_got_pregnant_while_she_had_mono__attempts_to_force_daughter_to_get_married.html

Gov. Palin needs to take a DNA or blood test to prove that baby trig is hers... all the evidence is supporting that the baby belongs to Bristol, her daughter.
I saw pictures and VIDEO of gov. palin when she CLAIMED to be 7 and 8 months pregnant, AND SHE DIDn''t look 7 or 8 months preganant to me... I have six children by two different women so I know what a 7 and 8 month pregnant woman looks like. Palin was not pregnant with trig, bristol was.
Bristol is now pregnant a second time or her 2nd pregnancy is a hoax to force her to marry her boyfriend to cover up for gov palin scandal...... faux-lame and biased news channel and other media outlets who support the GOP are trying to cover-up the scandal... and the oabama campaign is too scared to touch the issue cause they are just scared of being called a sexist for busting palin''s chops.
Do a search on youtube for "palin baby"

Please, leave this family alone to deal with this situation. We need only to hear the qualifications of Sarah Palin to be VP. The liberal media keep trying to dig up anything that might help elect the big spenders. What has the Pelosi congress done to help America.

People who are saying that Palin ''should have been a better mother'' need to step back. Palin probably warned her daughter about teenage pregnancy along time ago. teens don''t always listen to their parents, as I''m sure many of you know. Bristol made her own decsions, and she''s dealing with them. Her mother is supporting her, and we should to. Leave the girl alone.

Its fantastic that Bristol is keeping her baby. Babies are blessings, not punishments as Obama would tell her.

You don''''t seem to understand the concept of "choice".

Save your breath, ge. These "caps" folks only care about one thing, and that is abortion. Of course they do. It is an easy position to take. They can run around with their little signs and then go home to a warm fire and a martini. Very clean and neat.
They don''t fight for childrens rights, childrens health care, improvement in the foster care system, school food programs, or anything that benefits children.
They don''t fight for low-cost child care for young mothers that "choose" to keep their babies.
They do nothing for children. They really don''t like children, jus the idea of children.
