Myers Wants Out Of Anti-Obama Video

A small but amusing note from the McCain campaign, via Ben Smith: Turns out Mike Myers isn't on board with the McCain camp's use of his Wayne's World persona in its recent anti-Obama video, "Fan Club."

Writes McCain's Michael Goldfarb: "The ad features kids talking about how 'dreamy' Senator Obama is, how he brought a crowd to Taco Bell despite inclement weather, and how he is no less of an international superstar than U2 frontman Bono. Unfortunately, the final clip of Mike Myers and Dana Carvey doing their 'we're not worthy' bit from Wayne's World has spurred a celebrity backlash. Myers had his people call the campaign to demand that the video be removed from YouTube for copyright violation. Apparently, we are not, in fact, worthy."

Goldfarb uses Myers' response to play into the McCain campaign's portrayal of Obama as a celebrity. He writes that the reaction represents an example of "Obama's celebrity friends" fighting back on the candidate's behalf.

Watch "Fan Club" below.

That''s alright Mike, I don''t watch your childish junk for political reasons anyway. Your in good company. I don''t watch, buy or listen to any celeb''s who find it necessary to publicly support politicians of whom I am opposed too. I''d just be giving my time and money for use against me.

In a Country facing unprecedented challenges, record gas prices, unending war, soaring national debt, collapsing social security, a broken health care system, a struggling environment and a redistribution of wealth previously unknown, there is ONE candidate who doesn%u2019t take his job seriously. That candidate is John McCain.

But not taking his job seriously is nothing new for McCain. He slacked his way through college, graduating at the bottom of his class. He slacked his way through his job in the military, crashing five planes in the process and costing millions in tax dollars. And despite spending almost thirty years in the legislature, and chairing the powerful Senate Commerce Committee, John McCain never bothered to learn about economics. When it comes to slacking, John McCain is as good as they get.

He never bothered to learn about the issues facing our country. He wouldn%u2019t be troubled with learning the difference between Sunni, Shiite, and Al Qaeda. He never found the time to pull out a map to see that Iraq does not border Pakistan. And to top it all off, he''s missed more votes than any Senator in the US Senate.

Rather than confronting our Country%u2019s serious problems head-on and helping lead our Country back to greatness, John McCain would rather run for Joke-teller in Chief than for President. But do you blame him? What would you do if you were a lifelong slacker and knew so little about the issues that really matter?

Experience? Really? Like 26 years experience making economic decisions and still not managing to understand basic economics, and then having nerve to say economic experts are wrong and that your own opinion on the subject you don''t understand is the correct one?

No thanks, I''ll take the guy who has more experience than Reagan and Bush, who actually is educationally accomplished and taught law for 10 years instead of the guy who finished 894 out of 899 in the Naval Academy.

No, I''ll take the guy who''s demonstrated profound judgment when others went the popular route. I''ll take the guy who, despite his education and knowledge, still chooses to consult with the best experts to develop objective policy.

You neocons are a hoot! Bush and Cheney have done everything in their power to crush dissent, including appointing only sycophants as US attorneys, and expelling school teachers from their rallies for wearing "Peace Now" T-shirts.

The Bush-Cheney regime is the most anti-thought regime we''ve had since Nixon.

And you dare to say Obama crushes intellectual activity?

Bwahahahaha!

You ought to have your own TV show!

Michael Moore wanted to use the catchy title line from The Who''s song "Won''t get fooled again" at the end of Fahrenheit 9/11. It would have fit perfectly, but The Who refused to let him use it. Why can''t Myers refuse to let McCain use his work?

Agreed to most comments. You are an entertainer and hence you have opened yourself up to the public for opinions. If you do not like the opinions get out of the public lime light. I doubt your slavish ego will allow that! I have never looked to entertainers as role models and something to even follow in terms of opinions. Never saw the latest movie either.

I''m sick of how serious and sterile this country has become, and it will only get worse with Obama as president. By professing to have all the answers, this Obama movement is killing debate, the lifeblood of all intellectual activity.

Has anyone noticed that these "entertainers" are way more loyal than conservatives? They despise conservatives and in many cases do just what Mike Myers has done. Conservatives, on the other hand, usually despise these people''s actions and may totally disagree with their lifestyle and beliefs, but still watch their movies, make them rich, and keep them famous.
