Polls, Polls, Polls
No less than four new polls out today shine some light on where the public stands demographically and on several hot topics related to the presidential campaign.
The most significant numbers appear to come from a Quinnipiac/Wall Street Journal/Washingtonpost.com poll, which shows John McCain gaining ground in four key swing states. Most notably, the poll shows McCain edging ahead in Colorado and narrowing the gap in Michigan, two states that may prove most critical to the Republican's chances in November.
There is also some encouraging news for the Obama campaign, as a new Pew Hispanic Center poll may allay concerns about the Democrat's strength with Hispanic voters. The poll shows Obama owning a massive lead over McCain among Hispanics (66 percent to 23 percent).
Though the Obama campaign has attempted to put to rest false rumors that the Illinois senator is a Muslim, a Fox News poll shows that only 57 percent of respondents say Obama is a Christian, while one in ten believe he is Muslim and a full 27 percent are unsure.
Finally, a Pew Research poll shows that nearly two out of three Democrats and Republicans think it was inappropriate for the New Yorker to publish its cover satirizing Obama and his wife Michelle as America-hating radicals.
