Obama's "New Energy" Ad

The Obama campaign released a new TV ad that tries to tie John McCain's energy plan to George Bush's policies.

The ad, called "New Energy," accuses McCain of being "part of the problem" of high gas prices and shows archived footage of the Arizona senator embracing President Bush. The narrator says Obama "will make energy independence an urgent priority."

The Obama campaign said that the contrast ad was a response to "false, negative ads" launched by the Republican National Committee.

"New Energy" will run in the battleground states of Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

by n46130 July 9, 2008 2:21 AM EDT: It is a sign of wisdom and maturity when a person, given new facts, changes his mind. After all if that wasn%u2019t the case, we would still be afraid to fall off the edge of the earth and would believe that the sun moves around the earth.

For a political candidate to admit that he changed his mind given new facts is a sign of intelligence. For Senator Obama to change his mind given new facts should be considered the reason for considering him to lead the country. Consider President Bush; once he made up his mind, he refused to change given new facts about Iraq, Afghanistan, and Al Qaida. Now look at Senator McCain, he agrees with President Bush about Iraq and Al Qaida. He faults Senator Obama for changing his opinion when given new facts. Why is Senator McCain afraid to accept the fact that an opinion is not like the tablets brought down from the mount by Moses. New facts, new ideas, should allow a person to review his opinion and revise it if is a better fit. Surely Senator McCain has changed his mind over the years. After all, he changed his position on many items during his career in the Senate.

Who do you want to lead this country? Someone that forms an opinion and given new facts refuses to change his opinion. Or someone who has the intelligence and maturity to discard old ideas and accept new ones that better match the current facts. I know who I will vote for.; Reply to this comment

by mattcat25 July 8, 2008 7:36 PM EDT: I will not ever trust anyone that has actively contributed to, supported, and even voted for the odious and illegal actions that have been taken under the Conservative Republican Presidency and Rubber Stamp Congress.

Starting with the deceit that Saddam Hussein had Nuclear and Chemical Weapons of Mass Destruction and Delivery Systems capable of launching an attack on the United States.

John McCain has supported Bush%u2019s invasion, occupation, and surge on Iraq. McCain is a War Monger and desired to continue the Conservative Military Industrial Complex Wartime Economy by threatening to commence military strikes on another Middle Eastern Oil Producing Country Iran.

Vote McCain and vote in favor of:

Perpetual War, Mismanaging of Federal Treasury Funds, and Fear Mongering.
Increased Governmental $pending while cutting Taxes to the Wealthy.
Unfair Taxation of the Middle Class.
High prices for GASOLINE, Electricity, and Everything Else!
High Medical Costs and Prescription Drugs.
Pollution.
Invasion of Privacy, and disregard for our Constitution.
Corruption, Corruption, Corruption.
Religious Hypocrisy and Abuse of Tax Laws.
Politicalization of the Justice Department.
Degradation of our Infrastructure.
Continued export of American Jobs to overseas Slave Labor.
Decline in US stature and respect of the World Community.

Obama is much more in tune with cutting edge technology and the world of today. He has illustrated his leadership ability by organizing the most impressive campaign in history. Attracting large audiences and saying nothing or only what will apease the crowd is for the foolhardy. Changing positions is what he has done, and though McCain has adjusted his views he has been far more consistant with the issues. For those who keep pushing Obama without really knowing why perhaps it is time to understand that he isn''t a man of Change, he is a man that changes his mind to get elected. I vote MCCAIN.
