Women's Group Says "Not So Fast"

In a full-page ad on page A-9 of the New York Times this morning, a political action committee called WomenCount urges Clinton to stay in the presidential race until "every vote is cast, every vote is counted and we know that our voices are heard." From the ad:
"We are the women of this nation. We are rich and poor, young and old, married with children, married without children, single moms, gay, straight and widowed. We are every color. We are of every religion. We are from all political parties. We love our country. Now more than ever, so much of what we cherish is at risk – our homes and out health, our safety and our planet, our children and our values. We raise our voices, in one glorious, defiant chorus to tell the world that these times demand strength, courage and vision. And that is why we stand united in our unwavering support for Hillary Clinton."

We, women, count as much as every citizen of any gender, race, age or social status!
Many of us, Obama supporters, don''t feel the need to group under a particular label, or be counted within a particular statistical group. I am a citizen who has personal reasons to admire what some women Presidents have accomplished in other countries, BUT given the choice Hillary vs. Obama, I have no doubts to declare that for me, Obama is the best choice. Human quality, solid proposals for change and true integrity gain my vote.

I am a woman as characterized by this group, with all of the same characteristics - yet, I am not a Hillary supporter. At the same time, I refuse to be be characterized as one of the "women" because I refuse to be one of those poisonous, vicious and vindictive memebers, who feel that gender is the one and only issue to consider, and at the same time display all the worst of all traits of womenhood. I want my daughters, nieces and all the women in my family to be better than that, to accept responsibility, and to accept that we can be strong without adhering to those tactics that typically destroy others. The image of a bitter Ferraro on GMA is enough to drive more woman away, regardless of how many full-page ads are displayed.

Remember in the fall when you Hillary Clinton were asked about the Iraq vote and you said I voted how I thought I should and if you don%u2019t like it there are others to vote for. Well, thanks Hillary Clinton, we did find someone else to vote for. Hillary your vote for Iraq was a calculated vote to put you in position to run for President. Well, if you would have Calculated better and voted against it, you would be the nominee.

But now you are running like you are one of the people. Please! You are the richest of all the candidates running and are far more an a elitists then everyone else. The fact that you continue to push the rumors to your working class minions about Obama shows how manipulative you really are. And you even have women believing they are the downtrodden. Hillary you are not downtrodden. You are a US Senator. And remember how you got there too Hillary. Certainly not how many other great women got there on their own volition. You instead rode to the Whitehouse purely on your husbands adulterous coattails. Poor Hillary. But Hillary stop using people like they are yours to manipulate.

And don%u2019t call my vote from a caucus state worthless either. Perhaps in past elections caucuses were activivists but this year the turnouts for caucuses had primary like numbers. So in your 50 state count, you also need to count the small caucus states which puts you about 1.4 million votes behind.

Obviously that women''s group does not speak for all women

It appears to me that some of these women are operating from a platform of "entitlement" I would like to know how they are more entitled than anyone else in that if their nominee can''t win by the rules....then the rules must be revamped to accommodate them.

This is dangerous! If they want to form a PAC to promote issues for women, then that''s fine. I would be inclined to join them.

But, I want a President of the United States who will represent ever race, ***, religion or no religion in the country....and have dignity, grace, and patience to exercise diplomacy in foreign relations and policy.

Clinton has not shown to have those qualities, nor has McCain.

and just WHO is WomenCount?
It is a PAC that was formed within the last two weeks (FEC filings were on May 12th and May 16th) specifically to funnel money and support to Hilary.

It is not really an independent group - its one of those fake grassroots groups that we like to refer to as astroturf groups.

I am disgusted that the Democratic leadership has been silent and therefore has condoned the sickening sexist attacks on Hillary from both Dems and Reps. Women are the core of the Democratic Party, and by not speaking out, the party has turned it''s back on them.

Many women will not be voting for O''Bama should he win the nomination. Many women will either be writing in Hillary, voting other party, or not showing up. The disinterest by these women will be part of why O''Bama would not win in a general election.
