The Clinton campaign is out with a new ad in Texas highlighting national security. Text: "It's 3am and your children are safe and asleep. But there's a phone in the White House and it's ringing. Something's happening in the world. Your vote will decide who answers that call. Whether it's someone who already knows the world's leaders, knows the military, someone tested and ready to lead in a dangerous world. It's 3am and your children are safe and asleep. Who do you want answering the phone?"





Update: CBS News political consultant Joe Trippi weighs in on the similarity between this ad and one run by Walter Mondale against Gary Hart in the 1984 Democratic campaign. "It is even more than a redo," Trippi notes. "Roy Spence who made the 'Red Phone' ad for Mondale is also the consultant Hillary Clinton brought in several weeks ago. It is really a re release of Roy Spence's greatest hit."

"I was with Mondale at the time and it took weeks for that ad to take hold against Gary Hart, not days as the Clinton campaign is doing now. Also it is interesting that Pat Caddell (Jimmy Carter's pollster) has been publicly saying for weeks that the Clinton campaign should get the 'Red Phone' ad up. He was Gary Hart's pollster in 1984 and knows that this is the ad that killed Gary Hart that year. Looks like the Clinton campaign got that message. But is it too late?"

Why would I want either one of them answering the phone? One of them has said they would like to set up a kingdom right here on earth as an instrument of God. It seems like about 230 years ago we got rid of a king. So are we electing a president, or a king, or by chance a dictator. The second part of the question that should have been asked is who would be advising him or her at 3am. I guess I would look at their associates to see what kind of advisers they have now, a spiritual adviser whom is more interested in a persons color or says you can''t truly understand God unless your are black or poor. I would rather go with experience than with a candidate who has a spiritual adviser like that. What kind of advisers would he have at 3am.

The obvious answer is Hillary. She has 35 years of experience and has a trackable impressive record of getting things done. She has spent her life making all our lives better. Especially when it comes to our civil rights and human rights. She has an incrediable record and has been endorsed by some extremely heavy weight, including 27 military officials including generals, etc.. go to her site http://www.hillaryclinton.com I think "hope" is great, but with the wars we have now, we need a Commander in Chief regardless of gender or race that has some experience. If your child was in the hospital and needed life threatening surgery, would you go for the smooth talker with 3 years as an intern or the surgeon with 30 years of experience?

The last throes of the Clinton campaign. I would put money that the ad gets pulled within a day or so. Fear mongering will totally backfire, and the sleazeball tactics of the Clinton machine will fail. And then, of course, there''s the Texas situation where the Clinton machine is questioning the policy of democratic voting/caucuses. Give me a break.

The question is which Hillary would answer the red phone. Would it be the Hillary who cries, or the shrill harpy Hillary who points her finger and waves her arms and wants to talk about your behavior young man, or the Hillary who is sarcastic and belittle s her rivals, or the bitter, poor me, Hillary who thinks there is a media or vast right wing conspiracy against her. Maybe it will be the Hillary looks the other way while her husband sleeps around so that she can keep her political career alive or maybe the Hillary who never met a rule she didn''t want to challenge so that she could win at all costs. If she would decide who she is maybe voters could decide if he is fit to be President and should answer the red phone.
