Caroline Kennedy Endorses Obama

In a New York Times op-ed Sunday, Caroline Kennedy, daughter of President John F. Kennedy, endorses Barack Obama:

"Over the years," she writes, "I've been deeply moved by the people who've told me they wished they could feel inspired and hopeful about America the way people did when my father was president. This sense is even more profound today. That is why I am supporting a presidential candidate in the Democratic primaries, Barack Obama."

More: "I want a president who understands that his responsibility is to articulate a vision and encourage others to achieve it; who holds himself, and those around him, to the highest ethical standards; who appeals to the hopes of those who still believe in the American Dream, and those around the world who still believe in the American ideal; and who can lift our spirits, and make us believe again that our country needs every one of us to get involved."

"I have never had a president who inspired me the way people tell me that my father inspired them. But for the first time, I believe I have found the man who could be that president — not just for me, but for a new generation of Americans."

by sallywhan January 29, 2008 5:23 PM EST: The Kennedys wants us to remember all the good things and so forth but we have to remember the other stuff like drinking,chasing women,and the ice bridge,,,how hard to forget all those things..and they say Obama is like JFK and Robert how would they know they where all in pre school or not at all...Obama was wet behind the ears when this was all going on and Hillary was there and knows all the things she has to do to make our world a better place to live and work for the People so please lets get to work and make it happened and new Change in the world and that is Hillary in the white house...We as the people need her...so go for Hillary Clinton...; Reply to this comment

by bud28dy January 27, 2008 8:56 PM EST: Reality check. I was born in 1980 and JFK and his children have about as much relevance in my life as Herbert Hoover and his kids. Maybe this endorsement might influence the Depends Diapers crowd who still live in the sixties (and some of whom probably still remember Hoover for that matter). We need someone that will really make The United States a respected and admired nation around the world. We need someone that will change how the rest of the world perceives us and Hillary Clinton is that candidate! We need to show other countries a more peaceful and successful image of our nation and it''s citizens. We need to have a healthcare system that covers all Americans and is just as good or better than other nation''s healthcare systems. We should demand that our citizens be first in line for employment by American corporations instead of being placed aside because they outsource to other countries. The United States should set an example of what an accomplished nation is all about.

by hillfan01 January 27, 2008 5:36 PM EST: My question to realpatriot1 is if a woman is a dingbat because she votes for a woman candidate,then are african americans from south carolina dingbats for voting for Obama because he''s an african american,considering he got 80 percent of the african american vote in that state?!As for the endorsment of Caroline Kennedy;I respect her for being inspired when she listen''s to Obama''s speeches,and how that remind''s her of her father.But the realization is this,Obama talks about uniting the people of this great nation.It sound good,but how can republicans &democrat''s ever be united when they share so many differences?I am a democrat who is married to a republican,and all I ever hear is that democrat''s don''t care if we win the war,as long as we end the war,and that we support abortion rights and raising taxes,while republican''s are against those issues.I doubt if my marriage will last,so I don''t see the 2 parties uniting.As for President Kennedy he was the most inspirational president of this past century and he was a great leader whose life ended so tragically and much too soon.But he was prepared to be President,he had spent 14 years dealing with congress/senate.Obama is too inexperienced to end the war in Iraq,deal with national security issues or manage the bureacracy.Obama has bearly been in the senate for 2 years.I don''t support Billary,I support Hillary.She can take on the GOP in the fall& she has the message & experience to bring about change.; Reply to this comment
