Ron Paul Celebrates Nevada Second

Ron Paul
Ron Paul's fervent supporters have something to crow about: With nearly all precincts reporting, the Texas representative is sitting in second place in the Nevada caucuses.

Now, a few caveats. First off, it's a pretty distant second. Paul only got 14 percent of the vote, far behind Mitt Romney's 51 percent. Secondly, Paul barely edged out John McCain, who didn't campaign in Nevada, whereas Paul ran ads in the state. And third, Paul is not looking like a factor in South Carolina, where voters went to the polls today.

Still, second place is second place, and the Paul campaign is celebrating.

"Ron Paul has once again topped multiple media-anointed 'frontrunners' with his poll-defying second place showing in Nevada," Paul campaign chairman Kent Snyder said in a statement. "We're in this race to win, and we're going to battle for every delegate in this wide-open race for the Republican nomination."

Ron Paul''s anti-Iraq war stand is a view that the GOP should consider in light of losing control of congress in 2006. Most of the GOP Candidates still don''t seem to get the message.

However, if his comments on Dr. Martin Luther King that another poster posted are true, he shot himself in the foot. If Dr. King was alive, he would have been on the same side of the Iraq war as Mr. Paul.

Look at how this site portrays Ron Paul by reading the main page of the Politics section and comparing the "CANDIDATE PROFILES".

The first four headlines for Paul include the words: "Unlikely, Unlikely, Odd, Racist".

Compare with the first four headlines for Romney: "The man to fix, Hopeful, Celebrates win, Religion Important".

The untrue and unfair characterizations of Ron Paul are reprehensible and this media bias is a disgrace to America.

Paladin777:

"...now that a Mormon president is a very real possibility; they are rallying behind him (Mitt)''almost blindly.''"

I don''t go along with that. I know of a number of LDS who are Democrats, some who are Independent and others who are for McCain. LDS are not supposed to vote ''blindly,'' that''s dumb. They''re supposed to study the issues out and vote their conscience, and most of them do.

Even if Mitt didn''t win any LDS votes in Nevada, he still would have won that state, they said on the news. Wyoming''s delegates were awarded to Mitt, and the others because they were the only ones who campaigned in that state. There was no caucus/primary vote. Cheers!

Go Romney!

I fully support Ron Paul! He is what the "young" voter is looking for, all the other candidates just say they are looking to change the way things are, his record proves that he is looking to make a difference. It is not fair in any way how the media gives this man no credit and when they extend any credit his way it is looked down on. if the major news corps will not give him credit I will not support those channels (like FOX, ABC, CBS) I will also boycott any advertiser for those channels. Then maybe they will get the point! GO RON PAUL!!!!

Thank you for writing about Dr. Paul; it''s good to hear some buzz about his presidential candidacy.

Let me first preface my comments by saying that I am a Mormon from Salt Lake City. I really believe that Dr. Paul most certainly is in the same league as the big boys. One of the main reasons why Mitt won Wyoming and Nevada is because they are caucus style. Over 1/2 of Romney''s votes came from Mormons, who mobilize very well. Michigan also catered well to Romney as he made extravagant promises to the ailing auto industry. Besides, Michigan residents remember Romney''s father, so that helped him get a bump.

Mormons use the same hierarchy that exists in our religion to dig deep to finance their candidate and they certainly mobilize well politically. Mormons are used to donating; they give 10% of all their income as tithing to their church. I believe that many Mormons who support Romney, even though they might not say it, tend to view him as a religious leader as much as a political one. That is, Mormons feel that they have been slighted in so many ways, now that a Mormon president is a very real possibility; they are rallying behind him almost blindly. No one knows this more than I, since I am a Mormon and have a very difficult time getting my Mormon friends to even consider voting for someone else (like Ron Paul).

Ron Paul is the only man willing to tell the truth. No matter what the election outcome I will not stop or back down from the thieves in Washington who continue to allow the Federal Reserve to steal 600 Billion a year from us till they are exposed for who and what they are, a bunch of thieves that have been ripping us of for nearly a hundred years. Finally this information has come into the light of truth. This is a movement that will be as great as MLK and the civil rights movement, so do not get discouraged or give up, this is a fight for the contitution and civil liberty every where.
