Paul To Air First New Hampshire Ads

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul, digging into the $5 million he raised in the third quarter, is set to launch a series of ads in New Hampshire on Monday.

Though the campaign isn't releasing the first ad until Monday, Paul spokesman Jesse Benton described it to CBS News: "We set up some man on the street interviews with New Hampshire citizens, and we film them talking about Ron and why they like him, why he's appealing," he said. "It's just very positive, trying to introduce Dr. Paul to the citizens of New Hampshire," he added. "We think we're running pretty strong in New Hampshire but name recognition continues to be one of the big obstacles we have to tackle."

Paul, a libertarian-leaning Texan, is polling at seven percent in the state, according to a poll released yesterday by the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at St. Anselm College, behind Mitt Romney at 32 percent, Rudy Giuliani at 22 percent, and Sen. John McCain at 15 percent.

The first spot will be followed by "some commercials with Ron himself talking about his positions," says Benton. As the New York Times notes, the campaign has purchased airtime for six weeks for its five new commercials, at a cost of $1.1 million.

As someone who''s in the business, I know you can make a poll result look anyway you want. All you have to do is call or not call on people in a certain demographic group to achieve your desired result. You can see the man has support. He''s won all the debates he''s been in. People everywhere are in the street, and on the Net, supporting him like no other. And his campaign chest is growing daily, and not from huge corporate donations like the other GOP and Democrat candidates get, but from grassroots supporters who give what little they can afford. Ignore what the media network giants like ABC tell you. They sold-out to the status quo decades ago. This man has some major grassroots support across this country. I support the 2008 candidacy of Dr. Ron Paul. I believe he is our only hope to restore peace, prosperity and freedom in this country. Presidential candidates with the high-level of personal integrity and bearing the positive message of Dr. Paul only come around only once in a lifetime, if we''re lucky. The stakes are too high now, and the cause of freedom is too important, to let anything stand in the way of me participation in this 21st Century political revolution. by brettrix October 26, 2007 3:55 PM EDT: Awesome news CBS- I wish I could see the TV ad here in Phoenix. I know Ron Paul just spent about $450 k on radio ads in all 4 early states last week (NH, IA, SC, FL)

The first TV ad sounds like something I do all the time... introduce people to Ron Paul and watch them stand in disbelief that someone with his positions is even running, let alone among the Top Tier candidates.
