Google unveils Nexus 7 tablet for $199
Google Nexus 7 tablet announced on June 27, 2012.
/ YouTube/GoogleNexusThe co-branded tablet with Asustek Computer features a 7-inch screen with 1,280 x 800 display resolution, 1.3GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core chip, 1GB of RAM and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera. Other features include a gyroscope, accelerometer and GPS.
The Nexus 7 will be the first device to run Google's newest Android operating system, version 4.1 - also known as Jelly Bean.
The price point and size of the Google tablet is poised to compete with the Barnes & Noble Nook and Amazon Kindle Fire - both are 7-inch tablets running a version of Android.
The Nexus 7 will retail for $199 for an 8GB model and $249 for a 16GB model. The tablet can be pre-ordered at Google Play.
