Angry Birds Space dominates App Store
"After a giant claw kidnaps their eggs, the Angry Birds chase it into a wormhole and find themselves floating in a strange new galaxy - surrounded by space pigs! Luckily the Angry Birds have super powers of their own," reads the App Store description.
Rovio's fourth iteration of Angry Birds is taking the Apple App Store by storm, shooting to the top of the paid apps chart - knocking down that other viral mobile game, OMGPOP's Draw Something.
Angry Birds Space has also garnered 2,260 ratings that average four-and-a-half stars. So what is the big deal with this version, besides making a debut on the new iPad's Retina Display?

Gameplay is similar to the previous versions of the game, however, there will be new challenges involving the gravitational pull of planets, as well as the lack of gravity in general.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) even got in on the fun by partnering with Rovio to create a promotional video, showing off the game concept and delivering a lesson on gravity.
"The nature of gravity was first described by Sir Isaac Newton more than 300 years ago," said NASA said in a statement on their website. "Now three centuries later and more than 200 miles above our home planet on the International Space Station, astronaut Don Pettit shares the thrill of concepts like gravity and trajectories with some help from Red Bird."
Angry Birds is such a popular franchise that the AFP is calling it the "most successful mobile game in history." That's a bold assertion, but the numbers don't lie. According to USA Today, the previous versions of the game have garnered over 700 million downloads. At least one version of Angry Birds is currently available for iOS and Android devices, Mac OS, PCs, Facebook and Google Chrome.
