BlueStacks runs Google Android apps on Windows
(CBS) - We've often hear people tell us they don't care about technical specifications or operating systems. They just want it to magically work. We're not going to argue with that logic.
That's why we think the BlueStacks app player is pretty neat. It's free software that lets Windows users run Android apps on their computers, phones and tablets. That means, all of you Angry Birds addicts can shoot at those green pigs on a big computer screen in a snap.
A recent ComScore report shows that Android devices claim a 43.7 percent market share of smartphones. While that's a huge chunk of the market, there are still a large number of people who don't use Android. BlueStacks creates a nice opportunity for Windows users to access apps only available on Google's popular operating system.
BlueStacks launched its alpha version for Windows 7 and Vista today. There's no confirmation of when it will be available for Mac.
