Firefox 6 released before official launch date

(CBS) - Pssst, guess what... Although Mozilla Firefox 6 is scheduled to officially launch tomorrow, you can get your hands on it now.

Our friends at ZDNet figured out where to get 'em for Windows, Mac and Linux. Score!

"Ignore the 'first run' screen that appears telling you that this is a beta ... this is normal and Mozilla won't change this page until the official release," ZDNet says.

A benefit of the latest Mozilla web browser update: a faster startup where users can choose to load tab groups at browser's launch or load tabs in the browser's Panorama grouping tool.

"There's also a new permissions tool that allows users to set site-specific permissions for things like saved passwords, cookies, popups and so on. Just type 'about:permissions' into the address bar," ZDNet adds.

Plus, Firefox 6 gave a "performance boost for Linux users, as well as increased support for developers in the form of a Scratchpad tool for testing JavaScript within the browser and an improved version of the browser's Web Console," reports PC Magazine.

Hope this Firefox 6 is better than Firefox 5 which has serious memory leaks (sucking up more than 1.3 G memory and slowing down other programs on my computer) before it cashes almost everyday.
