Zuckerberg Takes Turn as TV Thespian

Mark Zuckerberg joins Jesse Eisenberg and cast member Andy Samberg on "Saturday Night Live"

/ NBC

Well, if this Facebook thing doesn't work out, Mark Zuckerberg can always give it a shot in show biz. Last fall, Facebook's co-founder and chief exec did some fairly funny voice-over work for a segment of "The Simpsons;" tonight he appeared for a cameo on NBC's "Saturday Night Live."

The occasion: Jesse Eisenberg, who played Zuckerberg in the movie "The Social Network," was a guest host on the NBC comedy show.

"How am I? I'm bad, okay?" said cast member Andy Samberg, who frequently plays Zuckerberg on the show. "You got nominated for an Academy Award for playing me. And what do I get? What do I have to feel good about?"

Eisenberg responded: "Wasn't Facebook just valued at like $50 billion?"

"Oh, that's right," Samberg (as Zuckerberg) answered.

"Why can't I go in there? I'm the real Mark Zuckerberg," the real Zuckerberg said while backstage during the opening monologue.

"I'm pretty certain at least one of those guys is the real Mark," Lorne Michaels, the show's executive producer tells him.

"Those guys are such nerds-c'mon, I invented poking," Zuckerberg said, before heading out to join Eisenberg and Samberg in front of the audience.

When Eisenberg asked Zuckerberg whether he ever saw "The Social Network." Zuckerberg replied that he did.

"It was interesting," Zuckerberg deadpanned..

"It was interesting," Eisenberg said. "I'll take it."

Petrel44, the word is gaffe. Although I agree with what you've said, if you're going to comment about someone else's spelling errors, you should proofread your own post.

um...pardon my asking, but;
was that deliberate- or did you mean 'thesPian'...?
was the writer thinking or the word 'lesbian' and got confused?

The word is "thespian," not "thesbian."

Consider this spelling gaff as an oblique commentary on the state of today's journalism, or at least the linguistic capabilities of all to many currently pursuing it as a career at some level or other. One wonders if the writer of this lead also uses this curious term in his or her speech. If so, such a means to appear conversationally sophisticated immediately produces the opposite result. Except, of course, among those with similar marginal capacities . . . .

Petrel44, very true. However, I've noticed that somewhere close to 95% of the people posting on this website wouldn't know proper English if it walked up and smacked them in the face. I would be willing to bet that less than 1% of those seeing this headline would see anything amiss.
