Wind May Have Parted the Red Sea for Moses

Topics
In The News

In Exodus, Moses parts the Red Sea, saving the Israelites out of Egypt and slavery. It may be that he had some assistance, according to a computer modeling study of fluid dynamics by researchers at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and the University of Colorado in Boulder.

According to a posting on the UCAR website:

The computer simulations show that a strong east wind, blowing overnight, could have pushed water back at a bend where an ancient river is believed to have merged with a coastal lagoon along the Mediterranean Sea. With the water pushed back into both waterways, a land bridge would have opened at the bend, enabling people to walk across exposed mud flats to safety. As soon as the wind died down, the waters would have rushed back in.

I saw the evening news cast with the story concerning a scientist who speculates that the east wind drove the water back and the Jews crossed on ankle deep mud. CBS prefaced this clip as "The First Scientist to come up with an explanation of the parting of the Red Sea". I remember hearing the same story on a t.v. news channel about 12 years ago. So, he's not the first, he probably plagiarized it form the same story 12 or so years ago.
In addition, how does he explain Exodus with the twice mentioned "and they walked across on DRY land. Also, the spot that they chose where the east wind blows all the water off...even when the wind is not blowing is less than 7 feet in depth. I really do not think that 7 feet of water would totally wipe out an army of soldiers and horses; unless of course this scientist can prove that horses were the size of Doberman Pincers back then and that men were no more than 3 feet tall. That leaves room for even greater scientific speculation. Just for an f.y.i., Exodus states that God caused all of the wheels to fall off of the king's army's chariots so that the horses were pulling dead weight which slowed down their advance. Even at that, when the last of the Israelites got across, the Pharoah's army was already well onto the sea floor when the wall of water was released from both sides by God, none survived. Also, could he give more speculative suggestions on what caused the pillar of fire by night and a cloud by day to serve as a guide. He may have a perfect explanation like the cloud was caused by smoke from the train engines that Pharoah was using to pull the great stones for the pyramids into place, ant the fire by night, nothing more than a mass migration of lightening bugs. Science and religion can work together toward exactly what the God of the Universe wanted us to do since Adam and Eve partook of the fruit of the tree of knowledge..."they(meaning us) have become as we are, having knowledge of both good and evil" This was the beginning of our educational system, our quest to figure out how to become more like them(God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit). We can do it scientifically as well as spiritually, or we can choose to take sides and war against one other over who is right. Just my opinion.

Nice thought. I would encourage you to take your message worldwide and get ALL humans to obey the 10 or 17 or 21 commandments. Then we have something to world with.

The Red sea is not the only time God parted the water for his people. Joshua Ch. 3 tells of the Lord parting the Jorden river so his people could cross the Jordan on dry ground. Also he did a simular thing for Isaiah.

You're right, the wind did part the Red Sea when God gave the power to do so to Moses. God created the heavens and the earth so it would be a small task for him to part thr Red Sea.

Where is your proof besides saying, "the bible says so"?

@JustYourAverageReader - Honestly, do you really need any? If you do, hit me up.

Wind did infact take part with Moses and God in the parting of the Red Sea.

"Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a "STRONG EAST WIND" and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left." (Exodus 14:21-22).

Instead of trying to analyze, figure out, and explain whether the events in the bible actually did happen and if God is real or not, why don't they try to figure out other things that would actually help humanity.

By the way, exodus was written by human or humans with accounts from different perspectives. The text has been rewritten and retranslated too many times to count. Sit at a table with several other people. Whisper something in the ear of 1 person and have that person repeat to the next person. When this message comes back to you it will be different.

One thing to help humanity is to rid the world of religion. Many wars, killings and persecutions would cease.

@JustYourAverageReader:

Ridding the world from religion would not help humanity. Sometimes all people need is something to believe in and have faith. Whether you pray to God, Allah, or Buddha, having this faith and hope is what keeps people going for a better tomorrow.

All you atheists really work hard to say something negative about the accounts of events in the Bible. If you don't believe in God why do you work so hard to try and prove your opinion as fact? God is scientific because all things were created by Him....he created science and he does things scientifically. To the believer the silly words of atheists are ridiculous and to be pitied.

Prove it without saying, "because the bible says so".

I pith those who say theri religion is the only true religion with the only true god. Those people tend to exclude and judge all others. In many cases they subject those who do not believe as they do to abuse, torture and death. Religion would be more credible if there was only one religion.

It hurts bad to think that this is all there is and we and all that we love just simply cease to exist. But just "believing" is not going to work.

It seems if they were going to spend money out of some stipend or research budget for doing this, they would have more science and data defending the fact that it NEVER happened.

Hey, let's get serious...
God knows what he's doin'
He wrote this book here
An' the book says:
He made us all to be 'just like him'
So...
If we're dumb...
Then God is dumb...
(an' maybe even a little ugly on the side)

GOD controls the wind if he desires. GOD takes the simple things of this world to confound the wise. To be carnal minded is enmity against GOD. They shall be turned over to reprobate minds because of their unbelief, so they cannot comprehend the things of GOD. Your choice.
