Ga. man claims he was insane in preschool shooting
DECATUR, Ga. — Trial begins this week for a Georgia man who claims he was insane when he shot and killed a toddler's father outside a suburban Atlanta preschool.
Hemy Neuman faces life in prison without parole if he's convicted of the November 2010 shooting death of Russell Sneiderman. His trial begins Monday after a lengthy delay to give a court-appointed mental health expert time to examine Neuman.
His attorneys say he was incapable of telling the difference between right and wrong at the time of the killing.
Sneiderman's wife worked with Neuman, and she has called him a family friend. Investigators have suggested the shooting could have been linked to an affair between the two. Her attorney has declined to address those allegations.
