NY boy, 12, who got hit with lacrosse ball dies
BRIGHTON, N.Y. — A 12-year-old boy who was hit in the chest by a lacrosse ball last week has died in upstate New York.
Officials at Strong Memorial Hospital tell Rochester media outlets that Tyler Kopp of Brighton died Tuesday at the hospital.
Authorities say the suburban Rochester boy was playing at Total Sports Experience in Gates on Feb. 2 when he was hit by the hard rubber ball, causing his heart to stop.
An off-duty Rochester firefighter performed CPR until an ambulance crew arrived.
Tyler was a seventh-grader at Twelve Corners Middle School in Brighton.
