Customer shoots robbery suspect at SC Waffle Shop

(AP)  SPARTANBURG, SC — Authorities say a customer at a South Carolina Waffle shop pulled a gun and shot one of two men trying to rob the restaurant.

The Greenville News reports (http://grnol.co/AkoQDk ) that the shooting took place early Saturday morning inside a Waffle Shop off Interstate 85 in Spartanburg County.

Coroner Rusty Clevenger identified the dead man as 19-year-old Dante Lamont Williams of Roebuck, who was shot in the head and body.

Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright declined to identity the customer, citing concerns for his safety. Authorities said the customer had a concealed weapon permit and tried to hold the two men at gunpoint until officers arrived, but that one suspect began to point his gun at the customer, who then fired shots. The second robber fled and is being sought by authorities.

Nicely done. its well past time that "criminal" as a career path should become a very dangerous choice. Hopefully some of the deceased thugs friends in crime will take heed.

sounds like good shot placement!the bad guy is going to have to learn that if you try to do harm,a good guy will be lurking in the background ready to come into action in protection of themselves and other`s!good job on this person`s part!too bad the other guy got away.hopefully the coward will be caught soon!

The customer was in well within his rights and there are those who may be alive today because of his action rather than INACTION.

How many more people would be alive today if they or someone close to them had carried a gun?

I'll take the concealed weapon on a licensed and trained citizen rather than being taken by thugs who want, want, WANT at ANY COST.

If this young man would have stood still and waited for the authorities to show up, he'd still be alive today! I don't blame the customer for his act as I would have done exactly the same. It's a shame that these young people have to die like this... and for what....a couple of bucks? A WAFFLE SHOP? What were they thinking? It's just a lousy shame.

The USA gun death rate is 55 times that of England, and 7x that of canada.

Why is, eg the catholic church that claims to protect life so quiet on this issue

while they rant and rave against granting our gay friends and neighbors equality under civil marriage laws?

they could help to change the gun culture in this country. a country where almost every day we read of killings.

We went to Iceland last summer for vacation. Their statistics showe they had 2 murders in all of 2010.

Population adjusted, Baltimore ( I live north of it) had a killing every other day.

Just a little off topic(Catholic Church and guns?) and hysterical (I've been to Iceland and I think it would be a good place for you) but what can we expect from someone who obviously has no interest in the positive (need I say lifesaving?) effect gun ownership, by licensed, non-criminal citizens, has on our crime ridden country.

well you know i was thinking same thing, why is that Soutrhern Baptsits don't let their children choose who they marry unless they carry a gun? wouldn't it be better to force their childrne to marry someone without a gun so they don't get shot? seriously? why is the Catholic church not stopping a man from saving everyone in that resturant from possibly being killed in a robbery? you actualyy have a problem with this? I think maybe you A. have too much time on your hands and B. Need to find somthing else to worry about.
