Katie Couric's Notebook: Susan Boyle

She dreamed a dream, and now it appears to be coming true.

Britain's Got Talent contestant Susan Boyle...whose trials and tribulations were international tabloid fodder last season...is back for a second act.

She's releasing a brand new album of covers...including the Les Miz tune that put her on the map...and a somber rendition of Wild Horses by the Rolling Stones.

While she may not seem to be the type of performer whose albums would sell like hotcakes...they are, according to Amazon. The website says they've had more pre-order sales for her new CD than any other in its 14 year history.

Despite a rocky end on a reality show, Susan Boyle will likely have the recording career she wanted for so long.

She once said her overnight success was like a demolition ball that hit her hard and unexpectedly.

Hopefully the year was spent not just preparing outside for the photo-ops...but also for the inside, and all the pressure that brings.

I'm Katie Couric, CBS News.

I just hope that Susan Boyle is smart enough not to grant Couric an interview. That insecure wingnut doesnt want any OTHER woman to succeed. Thanks for sticking together with the other women, you poor excuse for a journalist!

Btw, it was so funny to see you duped into being photographed with those 2 imposters at the state house dinner! :) just saying

The CBS News tonight (Monday-Nov 23,2009) started out with a negative piece on President Obama...a bunch of us were watching and a bunch of us were totally disappointed with Katie for presenting such a one-sided, pessimistic and unfortunately ill-informed report....don't you at CBS know the reasons Obama took his Asia trip??? why are you talking about no results??? Also, Health care reform is going to pass so why not start being positive about it....it has taken so many years to get anywhere on health reform yet CBS doesn't seem to care at all...why are you reporting only negative myths about the President? Why not get better informed yourselves by at least listening to National Public Radio and watching National Public Television...remember please that it took 8 years to run this big car of America to the ground...it will take more than a year to get it back up and running.

I agree. When I first watched her performance I was as weepy as one who loves great singers could possibly be. She would've achieved all that she has now even without a makeover--nonetheless, I have to go to Amazon and pre-order her album, one of many, to come.
To "BIDDR7"--you THINK?--I guess NOT!
