Katie Couric's Notebook: Chicago
Is the world ready for a little Polish kielbasa and deep dish pizza?
We'll find out tomorrow when the International Olympic Committee announces its choice for the 2016 Summer Games.
It's down to just four cities: Rio de Janiero, Madrid, Tokyo, and of course - Chicago.
The city's mayor, Richard Daley, is taking no chances in this high stakes competition. He brought out Chicago's big guns: First Lady Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey to impress the folks in Copenhagen this week.
President Obama is even swinging by to join his wife for a last minute campaign stop.
He's been taking some heat from GOP critics who say he has bigger fish to fry right now. But, British Prime Minister Tony Blair met with Olympic voters in 2005, and London swiped the 2012 games away from Paris.
Maybe all that star power will help secure the games and the revenue and recognition they bring. But if not, we can always blame it on Rio.
That's a page from my notebook.
