Yesterday, Katie spent a lot of the day in Columbus, Ohio, on the campaign trail with Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain and his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. At a campaign rally, Palin said: "I do look forward to Thursday night and debating Sen. Joe Biden. We are going to talk about those new ideas, new energy for America. I'm looking forward to meet him too. I've never met him before. But, I've been hearing about his Senate speeches since I was in, like, 2nd grade." And Katie hung out with Palin behind the campaign scenes later in the day. We'll show you more on the Evening News tonight, but first, check out what Katie asked the Republican VP nominee about that very statement.
Katie Couric: You made a funny comment, you've said you have been listening to Joe Biden's speeches since you were in second grade, something like that.

Sarah Palin: It's been since like '72, yah.

Couric: You have a 72-year-old running mate - is that kind of a risky thing to say, insinuating that Joe Biden's been around a while?

Palin: Oh no, it's nothing negative at all. He's got a lot of experience and just stating the fact there, that we've been hearing his speeches for all these years. So he's got a tremendous amount of experience and, you know, I'm the new energy, the new face, the new ideas and he's got the experience based on many many years in the Senate. And voters are gonna have a choice there of what it is that they want in these next four years.

Katie:
I saw the outtakes of your interview with Sarah Palin. Not very flattering to her, to say the least. When you were first given the opportunity to take over the evening news, had someone ask you a "gotcha" question about the job, even with all your journalistic talents, how would you have done? I watched the VP debate last night expecting Palin to really screw up. She didn''t. She actually held her own and I believe will get even better. I feel that you did not do CBS or yourself any favors by trying to "get her". Maybe that is why your ratings are now the lowest they have ever been. I have watched you since you took over the anchor and wanted you to succeed. I am now swithching to another network. Don''t know which one yet but you can CBS can bet it won''t be yours.
GREAT JOB, Katie. Thanks for the unbias journalism.

CBS, in a room of 100 "independant" voters, chooses to interview two of the five (5) who thought Palin did well in the debate. And no one of the the 95 who presumably differed in that assessment??? That is simply too obvious to be ignored.

Katie:
I''m a 50 yo professional woman who has been a fan of yours for at least the last 20 years. I always thought you were one of the most unique tv personalities because you were a genuine, down to earth, people person. Someone I would want as a friend. When you moved to the evening news I was somewhat disappointed but thrilled that you were breaking new ground for women. The part did not seem like a perfect "fit" for you. I thought to myself, "she is not going to have fun anymore at work." I have made it a point to watch the evening news since you took the position. However, after watching your interviews with Sarah Palin, I have never felt so betrayed by a tv personality. I have never written or commented on anything I''ve seen on television but you disappointed me to such an extent I felt it necessary. The country did not need to watch your painful interview to be made aware of how incompetent Palin is. She was going to accomplish that all on her own. You are a traitor to all women. I guess in the end you were no different than any other journalist; ie, selling out for the ratings. Not quite sure how you explain your behavior to your girls, but I''m sure it''s in a way that let''s you sleep at night. At least now I can go back to watching Charlie without regrets.

I would like to hear from Ms. Couric a list of important Supreme Court decisions that she feels American citizens should know of and understand their importance. I do understand why she solicited Senator Biden''s and Govenor Palin''s opinion on Roe v Wade, so I would like to know what other Supreme Court decisions hold that same importance in her opinion.

Now we know why Katie and CBS are dead last. No audience or the lowest rating. Katie should stay with the fluff reporting on the Today show. She is no real journalist.

I wish I could find someplace to send a thank you to Katie Couric for possibly changing the course of history by protecting this country from buying the whole Sarah Palin myth. She was absolutely brilliant and I believe very fair. I thought it kind of her to point out that Sarah''s privacy statement was the foundation of Roe V Wade and give her the opportunity to qualify. Thank God for Katie Couric that''s all I can say....

shame on you katie couric!! omg!! interviewing palin as hard hitting as you did, she is a vp nom! and turning around and batting your lashes, giggling, while asking obama, a pres. nom!!!, what his favorite movie is!! i truly believed in you, your unbiased reporting, now i find i can no longer trust in anything you say! you have let me and your public and journalistic integrity down. you looked like a reporter with palin and like a silly teenager with obama... flirting with him and acting like a nauseating fan of some kind of star... shame on you... you have lost all respect for yourself ... you behaved disgustingly! shame on you!! i am a former fan!

Katie-you''ve changed! OR HAVE YOU? For years I have watched you on the Today Show-I thought then you were fair, stuck to facts, unbiased but your true colors are showing through. Will you ask Joe Biden, a Catholic, about the "Day after" birth control? Will you ask him about "Roe Vs Wade"? Will you ask Obama, a Christian who resigned from his church of 20 years claiming he never heard any of the sermons, about separation of Church and State? Now that I have cable TV and internet I see how biased NBC,CBS, ABC are. You have lost favor with millions of viewers-I am glad for one thing. I wrote you many years ago to redo your wardrobe-looks like the big bucks from CBS has done that at least. Too bad you lost your soul tho.

Katie, you''ve just got to read the Ann Coulter take on how you played *** to your interview with Biden... after using claws on Palin. My journalism class is going to have fun with this one.
