John Edwards dropped out of the presidential campaign today, but not without making a big impact. He pushed tough issues off the backburner and encouraged his fellow Democrats to speak out about injustices.

by kenhamlett February 2, 2008 12:10 PM EST: Mr. Edwards seems to be a good man with many good ideas. Unfortunately it seems he is not getting his message across in an effective manner. I hope he tries again in the future but in the mean time he might try to sway the other candidates to adopt some of his ideas.; Reply to this comment

On a side note to CBS decision making hierarchy: News Flash! Edwards voters are not necessarily low income, low educated as you seem to think. Quite a few of us have college educations and are not the "losers" you appear to need to label us. Try the truth sometime. by rflouisiana January 31, 2008 9:50 AM EST: So let me get this straight... Ron Paul got 3% of the Republican vote in Florida, therefore he gets 3% of the air-time in the national debate. What am I missing? Would anyone be so kind as to reply to my post & tell me a legitimate reason why Ron Paul does not deserve to have his voice heard equally with the other candidates. According to this line of reasoning, the vote count in the state of Florida is officially the rod by which the candidates are held up to measure for the rest of the country. 1. Hillary is not Bill. They are two separate people with separate personalities; much like yourself and your wife are two separate people with separate personalities.

2. George''s desertion of post, declaration of war on a country that had nothing to do with 9/11, and torture policy trumps anything Clinton did. Get your morals and priorities straight.

3. Clinton has nothing to do with Edwards which is what this was about.

That said I still plan to vote for Edwards in the primary and probably Mickey Mouse in the actual election. Of more interest is probably the fact that most republican/independent voters around here who were interested in voting for Edwards were saying they would probably go republican now that he''s gone.; Reply to this comment

Senator John Edwards brought tough issues to the fore in this campaign and was a compelling and effective speaker on the campaign trail, often highlighting and speaking for the needs of the poor,disenfranchised, and victims of injustice. A tough former lawyer who was not afraid to fight for justice in the courtroom, he brought his fighting spirit to the campaign,and his wife Elizabeth''s example of courage in dealing with and fighting the diagnosis of cancer is an inspiration to all. Even though he is no longer in the campaign as of today, he and his wife contributed immensely to the democratic political process and campaign by their political and personal courage, patriotism, and by their concern and fight for the welfare and rights and liberties of all Americans.
