Dear Ms. Kouric,
I watch your evening news program daily. I am writing to make a
suggestion that would be a first among all the major channels. I
think you would attract a huge number of new viewers if you had a
daily one or two minute segment covering news from the Americas -
Central, Latin and South America. There is enough of importance
happening there from earthquakes to football fever to political
events that would, I am sure, provide coverage on a systematic
basis.

Hope you find this suggestion useful enough to implement. I''''ll be
watching!

It was with sadness that I heard of the passing of the great Sir Edmund Hillary this week.

A number of years ago, I had the rare opportunity to hear him speak about his Ascent of Everest, and afterwards meet him personally. Although he had climbed the Earth''s highest summit, in many ways he was really quite down to earth. Although the great stature of the man, both literally and figuratively, was clearly evident as well, his spirit of adventure and fun clearly shone through. He inspired the world to achieve higher and more noble goals,to conquer the unknown,to climb every mountain.

He was both a great mountaineer and a great human being as well. His achievement of being the first man to climb Mt. Everest is hailed and recognized throughout the world. And his work for environmental causes, and his great humanitarian work for the peoples of the Nepalese region will not be forgotten either.

God Bless Sir Edmund Hillary.
