Who's Not Buckling Up?

I just wanted to give you a headsup on a great piece we have coming up tonight. New Jersey Gov. John Corzine is running a

public service announcement

urging people to buckle up, something he didn't do last month and it nearly cost him his life. Our Nancy Cordes discovered that while clicking in that seat belt is second nature to the younger generation, a lot of grownups aren't in the habit. We'll be naming names and you'll be shocked!

by imredeemed-2009 May 25, 2007 2:45 AM EDT: The seat belt law has to be the most irrational law on the books. Our society fights for personal choices, especially abortion. They argue that's it's their body and they should be able to do as they please, so they've been allowed to slaughter millions of babies within "the law". But yet we need a "law" that tells us we have to wear a seat belt. Oh, and lets not forget about the newest and probably most insane law, the no helmet law for motorcylces. So I'm riding around in my car with metal protecting me on every side yet I must wear my seat belt, as the person on the motorcycle flies past me with nothing around him to protect him, now with even no helmet, with a passenger wearing nothing but shorts and a tank top. Buckle up??? Yeah right!! Oh, and for seat belts on school buses, also irrational. I drove a school bus for 12 years. Say they installed seat belts in the buses and a bus load of, just say kidnergarten kids, was just in a accident and caught on fire. Now not only does the driver need to make sure they all get out of the bus safely, now they need to unhook a bunch of seat belts first, because the kid that burns to death in their seat belt will sue the school and driver for not getting their child out. I know, maybe all the parents that are concerned about seat belts in school buses should just transport their kids to school on their motorcylces, much safer, so says the law!; Reply to this comment

They ride school buses that have no seatbelts and some even have to stand up, yet the second they are in a car they have to be buckled in. So our schools can legally put our children at risk but we can't.Does not make sense to me.......but these days not a whole lot makes sense anymore.Our lawmakers and government is *** us big time.; Reply to this comment
