Russ Mitchell has today's preview of the CBS Evening News. Speaking of the war and Pence's little foray into an Anbar market. Did you hear today's NPR follow-up story about someone with McCain saying how friendly the people were and how they refused to let them pay for the carpet they bought?

NPR went back later and talked to the same shopkeeper. He told them he thought they were visitors and was only being polite when he refused the money. Fact is, he wants the Americans and the insurgents gone. He also stated that he thought the insurgents should attack the Americans instead of them. Story is "Republican Pence Visits Iraq's Anbar Province on the NPR website.

Classic case of misinterpretation and disconnect by us. Go figure

Lesson to be learned? Face up to reality no matter how cold and hard it may be and never accept face value without investigating further whenever and wherever possible.; Reply to this comment
