Way to go Katie! Remember YOU weren't the one being interviewed!

When I learned that Katie Couric was going to interview the Edwardses on 60 Minutes, I looked forward to watching it because I thought Katie would be compassionate and kind in asking the hard questions. Boy! Was I wrong! She was cold and harsh. And the "some say" thing, which she used repeatedly, really got on my nerves! Who are the "some?"

Hi Katie,
I think you did a WONDERFUL job interviewing the Edwards couple. He is running for president, it's a big job, and the questions you asked are very pertinent! I am shocked at how many people are angry, you are a great journalist and asked important questions to the potential next president. Keep up the good work, and don't let the negative people slow you down!

Well once again Katie Couric has shown her lack of compassion & journalist skills. Her grilling of the Edwards was a COMPLETE DISGRACE. The questions asked were way out of line. Especially coming from some one who has lost a family member to cancer. The only ones playing politics with Mrs. Edwards cancer, is Katie Couric and the republican party. Did "Some People" say Katie was playing politics when her husband died from cancer? Did they question her for working while he was dieing. Were they questioning her motives for having a medical procedure live on the air? Just where are these "Some People" when you need them.

I am glad of one thing though. CBS is paying the price for having CHIRPIE THE GIGGLING CLOWN trying to do the even news. Your ratings are DEAD LAST and you are loosing viewers & advertising as I type. This just shows that Little Miss Katie is in Way Over Her Head. You should send her back to doing interviews with the organ grinder and his trained monkey, or reporting on Anna Nicole Smith something she is Qualified to handle.

I will never again watch CBS news or support it's sponsors as long as this "Happy Faced, Giggling, Animatronics Talking Head" is the one trying to SLANT the newZZZ.

Shame on you, Katie. How would *YOU* have felt to be interrogated so rudely when your own husband was dying? What are you trying to prove? You are an embarrassment to all women and you most certainly are an embarrassment to your profession. Get some help! And shame on CBS for airing such a trashy, ratings grabbing interview. I call for a boycott of all CBS advertisers who support this ***.

Katie, I've been a huge fan. But your interview with the Edwards was embarrassing for me to watch: embarrassing for you and embarrassing for the Edwards. Your hallmark has been the ablility to do the tough interview with sensitivity, class and integrity. None of that was evident last night. Falling back to yellow journalistic crutches such as "some say . . ." over and over showed a lack of preparation, was uncharacteristically unprofessional and simply looked mean. Not the Katie we have come to know and respect.

Elizabeth Edwards showed enormous courage to decide to live her life to the fullest, by her husband's side, in one of the most important quests that anyone can undertake in our country. Should she and John slink home to sit around and await her death?

The contrast with your own personal experience with the loss of your husband and sister to cancer made the interview all the more stunning. We grieved with you through those times.

Perhaps it was the class that John and Elizabeth showed in patiently repsonding to your questions that made your lack of such so apparent. You missed a great opportunity to show empathy and understanding, and further public education about cancer. The whole thing is just very, very sad.

Dear Katie, I think you did a very good job with the interview on 60 Minutes. Many people, and the newspapers, had been asking a lot of tough questions and making tough comments about John Edwards' campaign since Thursday, after he informed us that his wife had had a recurrence and spread of breast cancer, but that he would continue his Presidential campaign. You gave them both the opportunity to express their feelings, and answer some of these tough questions in depth and clear the air. The Presidency is a tough and demanding office, and the battle against breast cancer is tough and demanding as well. We have a right to know of our candidates where they stand on public issues, but also relevant private issues as well, such as serious family medical problems, which might have a great impact on the public life, as well as the private family life, of candidates for the Presidency. It was courageous and a service to the nation for John and Elizabeth Edwards to participate in the 60 minutes interview, and talk about their feelings , and I also think it was courageous for the them to come forward with all the medical information about Elizabeth's condition, and that it will help inform and educate many people about breast cancer. Whatever decisions John Edwards' Presidential campaign may make, we pray for his wife Elizabeth's good health, and for strength for them both and their children in coping with this life threatening disease.

Katie Couric was out of line with her questions to the Edwards's guess when you are overpaid and in 3rd place you get desperate. A question for Ms Couric: didn't she work and not stay at home when her husband had cancer?

I am not a Katie fan any longer either. Should Ford have resigned when Betty had cancer? Maybe Cheney should resign with his heart problems and blood clots. 1 in 3 people will deal with cancer in their lives at one time or another. Should candidates and their family members be prescreened for cancer and run based on those results? I can understand the question being asked ONE TIME during your interview as the public has shown a desire to have it answered. But to interigate Edwards like that was unnecessary. I feel like I just watched The View or read an opinion column. I would go as far as to say that the interview was similar to a Rush Limbaugh interview. You are now just another example of why America is way down the list when it comes to free press. Sad, very sad.

I have been a big fan of Katie, but the 60 Minute
interview with the Edwards's was embarrassing.
The questions were inappropriate and much to
personal in my opinion. I was surprised she asked
such probing questions, so many times in different
ways. I am not a fan of her as a journalist reporter now.
