by leighann626 September 10, 2006 2:18 PM EDT: It's hard to feel good about a president who used God and religion to win an election. It's also perplexing to understand why everyone fails to understand that the hijackers were from Saudi Arabia and not Iraq. Can anyone really blame the people of Iraq for their resistance? They never ask for democracy. Who are we to tell people how they should live? Sure, Saddam was a monster, but our presents in Iraq have failed to make things better. A good leader doesn't give 80 billion dollars to Pakistan and say "whoops, some of the money fell into the terrorist hands". A good leader takes care of his own people, his own country. Katrina was such an embarrassment to Bush and Company. They didn't want anyone in the world to know that we have people living in abject poverty right here at home. As tragic as it was, the pictures don't lie about the failure of this government and past governments to help its on people. That's pretty sad. A great leader doesn't use *** marriage and flag burning to divide a country, a great leader encourages diversity and promotes unity. If people are burning our flag, it's probably because they too are disappointed in what we have become. So, I say to the Bush administration, if you're going to continue to play the bible card, don't forget to discuss things like greed, glutony and how we shouldn't really judge others. But when you're in bed with Halliburton and Exxon Mobile, I suppose it's hard to acknowledge that stuff.; Reply to this comment


by adamgpaul September 9, 2006 7:05 PM EDT: Katie argues that Bush deserves our appreciation for taking on the world%u2019s toughest job under very difficult circumstances. I share Katie%u2019s appreciation for someone willing to take on such an awesome challenge and at the same time maintain that it is irrelevant. The important thing is whether or not Bush has what it takes to do the job. Courage, conviction, and the ability to stick with it when the pressure is intense are all traits that the President scores very high on. Unfortunately, he lacks the ability to understand and effectively manage risk, to outthink our enemies, and to communicate effectively enough to build consensus on the world stage. These failings are significant enough to disqualify him for the job of President. Bush should not be given high marks simply for being President during challenging times especially considering that his leadership deficits have in part contributed to some of the very serious challenges we are now facing.; Reply to this comment


by nicknmidwest September 9, 2006 9:34 AM EDT: This was the very first item that I had seen with Ms. Couric on the evening news. I must pay my respects to Ms. Couric. She can interview well. She seems to be one of the hardest working anchors. I don't get the impression that she just sits at desk to read the news. Regarding this interview, I didn't learn anything new. It was the same old garbage restated. I was wondering if the news on CBS was going to become more one sided-that night it sure felt like it. As much as I would like for Ms. Couric to do well at CBS, if I feel the news is one sided or I get too many commentaries, I'm going back to watching real International News on the BBC and reading the New York Times.; Reply to this comment

It was to bad that CBS fired Dan for exposing how Bush walked away from The Texas Air Reserve during the Vietnam war. Bush had easy duty, but that was even to much for this warmonger president. Now he sends others to die in a phony war. Now we get Katie Couric is Bush's cheerleader and even has him on her first newscast. The CBS nightly news is just a wast of time and they will soon be looking for another anchor.; Reply to this comment

I ONLY HAVE A LITTLE TIME WATCH THE NEWS AND I WANT THE NEWS JUST NEWS NONE OF OTHER STUFF. I GET MORE NEWS ON THE RADIO DURING THE TOP OF THE HOUR NEWSCAST ON MOST RADIO STATIONS IN 5 MINUTES THAN KATIE GIVES IN A HALF HOUR. IF SHE WANTED TO DO INTERVIEWS SHE SHOULD HAVE STAYED ON THE TODAY SHOW. I WILL GO BACK TO BRIAN WILLIAMS ON NBC OR PBS AT 7.00 PM FOR THE NEWS NO MORE KATIE; Reply to this comment

What a waste of my time the show is. Pablum served up by a misguided unqualified woman who is out of her league. I'm sad she didn't step up to the plate and I wonder just how much input Couric has in what is finally aired. 18 minutes of air time and we get rush and online baseball? no Iraq? no election fraud in Ohio (again)? and not once have I heard any media ask why Armitage waited three years to publicly admit he was the Plame case leak. I'm sure the White House knew it, just like they knew Saddam had no connection to 9/11 or al Queda.

I said more in the first post but why bother. They don't seem to be listening anyway.
