by CBSTV August 25, 2007 2:29 PM EDT: It''s wonderful to see these vintage news broadcasts. CBS is to be commended for doing a superior job of preserving its video history. The other networks have been far less vigilant about saving their legacies.

As Sally Quinn was suffering from the flu during this CBS Morning News premiere, it''s not fair to make a general assessment of her on-air skills from this lone broadcast. However, I can understand how Quinn might have been seen by 1973 standards as a controversial TV news figure (although not comparable with the "Anchorwoman" values of today).

I was impressed by the probing interview of Patrick Buchanan. Today, it''s doubtful that any network news broadcast, morning or nighttime, would allot two uninterrupted segments of air time for substantive conversation.
