by vincehancock July 8, 2007 4:37 AM EDT: Speaking of virtuosity, I was puzzled by CBS' broadcast of the Boston Pops concert.

When the show began, nationally at 10pm ET, only a few minutes of the Pops orchestra's performance was televised--apparently the very end of the concert that actually began earlier in the night.

The rest of the so-called "Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular" consisted of John Mellencamp (two songs) and half an hour of canned music, set to a fireworks display. The Boston Pops orchestra was never seen again.

So also was Rod Serling, and he went on to make TV history, not just Twilight Zone, but "Requiem for a Heavyweight" Death of a Salesman" "Planet of the Apes"...

Not to forget Bob Hope...
