"They're very aware that Christian media for decades was just awful and cheesy, and it's just pure kitsch. And I think now they recognize that if we can produce really quality media but that nonetheless has this fundamentalist message, then we're going to win kids over. If they can, you know, get to Hollywood and make movies that are actually pretty good, like The Chronicles of Narnia, those become the media equivalent of gateway drugs to bring you in to drink the full Kool-Aid of fundamentalism."

--Jeff Sharlet, who wrote an article for "Rolling Stone" about evangelical youth leader Ron Luce, speaking on "On The Media." Luce trains young people to infultrate a secular media he believes to be demonically-inspired. Says Luce: "Just as the events of September 11th, 2001, permanently changed our perspective on the world, so we ought to be awakened to the alarming influence of today's culture terrorists. They are wealthy, they are smart, and they are real."

Imas Man termination is reasonable & appropriate. BUT the dialogue needs to continue on what to do, how to do and when to do what needs to be done to bring back civility, respectful speech from tv/radio newscasters and regular radio / tv commentators.

what about the garbage talk shows on tv where false statements and demagogery runs rampant?? the Limbaugh types! where's the press? why have the press refrained from pointing out lies, false statements, inaccurate statements from the president, the vice-president ON THE SPOT OF AN INTERVIEW OR NEWS CONFERENCE? lies hurt and cause damage too!

when lies as well as insults and denigrating offensive "hate talk" gets a pass (happens in one program) and then merely commented on in subsequent programming--the damage is already done. in the Imas Man case, why weren't people AT THE READY to stop the show when the words were uttered. to call college students "nappy headed Ho's" should have resonated immediate radio/tv airways action as tho Imas uttered the "N....R" or "F..K" or "M.....F....R" or "S..T" or "C..K" words that clearly would have shut the show on the spot for use of profanity.

sexist and racist and other denegrating remarks are HARMFUL are HURTFUL are DAMAGING. people can avoid a movie theater, they really can't avoid TV & radio unless they shut them off all the time.
