ESPN Announces Launch of 3D Network
Watching sports in 3D will be a reality in 2010 as ESPN announced Tuesday it is launching its latest network ESPN 3D.
The South Africa-Mexico World Cup match June 11 will be the new network's inaugural broadcast.
"ESPN 3D marries great content with new technology to enhance the fan's viewing experience and puts ESPN at the forefront of the next big advance for TV viewing," ABC Sports President George Bodenheimer said in a statement.
ESPN has toyed with 3D for the past couple years, most notably showing a USC-Ohio State college football game at select theaters.
In addition to the World Cup match, the network plans to air the 2011 BCS Championship and the Summer X Games in 3D.
