Man retrieves wife's ring from garbage dump

Talk about a Halloween horror!

Brian and Anna McGuinn had one in their home in Margate, Fla., on Halloween morning when they realized Brian had accidentally thrown out Anna's karat-and-a-half, custom-made engagement ring the night before.

Anna is pregnant and her finger was swollen, so she gave Brian the ring and asked him to put it away. Except she gave him a disposable razor to toss at the same time. And the rest was, almost, history.

Once it was clear the ring was gone, Brian raced to the dumpster - but narrowly missed catching it, as a garbage truck was then hauling it to the local dump.

His next stop: Wheelabrator Waste, in Pompona, Fla., where workers let him suit up in protective gear and begin to sort through more than 9 tons of garbage. Talk about love!

Brian says he would have looked as long as it took.

But after only a half-hour, there was the ring - right next to the razor!

Brian let out the loudest yell of his life as he grabbed the ring with his bare hands.

They told their story to "Early Show on Saturday Morning" co-anchor Rebecca Jarvis.
