Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end Da'Quan Bowers was arraigned Monday on charges of criminal possession of a weapon and posted $10,000 bond.

Bowers was arrested at LaGuardia Airport as he was about to board a US Airways flight to Raleigh, N.C. Authorities say the .40-caliber weapon was found during a search of his carry-on bag.
Efforts to reach his attorney were unsuccessful. The Buccaneers haven't returned messages seeking comment.
Bowers played college football for Clemson University and was chosen by the Buccaneers in the 2011 NFL draft.
Former Giants star Plaxico Burress was arrested on the same charge after he accidentally shot himself in a nightclub in 2008.

- This article is completely false. Bowers traveled to NY from NC with the weapon in his CHECKED baggage unknowingly. When he realized his mistake he immediately informed LaGuardia officials and voluntarily surrendered the handgun. He DID NOT attempt to board a plane with the weapon in his CARRY ON luggage. SO - BRAVO NY...a law abiding citizen who made a simple mistake and tried to do the right thing...gets arrested and plastered all over national media with false and incomplete information. Reason 10002 to hate NY.

- Hollywood- NRA metality is one of the big problems. The answer is simply to have more and bigger guns than the next guy..even a right wing tea bagger should be able to see the problem with that.

- Awww. He just wanted to be the hero and shoot up all the bad guys who might get on the plane and cause trouble. He was just following instructions from the CEO of the NRA.

- I'm thinking that was not his intention, poorly offered by you only to make a weak political point. Law-abiding citizens and members of the NRA - usually one and the same - are not the problem.
