Anna Burns Welker, wife of Patriots star, apologizes for criticizing Ray Lewis on Facebook

Last year, Tom Brady's wife Gisele made headlines after the Patriots' season ended, essentially blaming Wes Welker for dropping a key pass in the Super Bowl loss to the Giants.
Now, it's Welker's wife who is in the news for comments she made on Facebook following New England's season-ending loss to the Ravens.
After the game, Anna Burns Welker took to Facebook to support her husband - but mostly take a few shots at Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis, according to the Baltimore Sun.

"Proud of my husband and the Pats," Welker wrote on her Facebook page. "By the way, if anyone is bored, please go to Ray Lewis' Wikipedia page. 6 kids 4 wives. Acquitted for murder. Paid a family off. Yay. What a hall of fame player! A true role model!"
The post has since been deleted.
Lewis, who is retiring at season's end after a surefire Hall of Fame career, was cleared of murder charges in 2000 after a Super Bowl party fight involving Lewis and his entourage resulted in the stabbing deaths of two men in Atlanta.
It didn't take long for Mrs. Welker to apologize for her post.
"I'm deeply sorry for my recent post on Facebook," she said in a statement sent to Larry Brown Sports. "I let the competitiveness of the game and the comments people were making about a team I dearly love get the best of me.
"My actions were emotional and irrational and I sincerely apologize to Ray Lewis and anyone affected by my comment after yesterday's game," she continued. "It is such an accomplishment for any team to make it to the NFL playoffs, and the momentary frustration I felt should not overshadow the accomplishments of both of these amazing teams."

- Ray gets all this attention and it's nice to think that at least some of this attention will fall to substances like Deer Antler Stax from Velox Labs. Since it helped him recover from his injury in record time, I think that more people should start looking into it.

- Maybe the comment was a little abrasive but it was all true. I hate that people cave to the media and apologize for something they really want to put out there. I don't have a problem with her or her comment. In a few years people will be kissing the ground under Michael Vick because he is a great player. We shouldn't be so quick to dismiss the negative past of people kids are idolizing.

- Michael Vick has not been a great player for a long time now.

- What is true? Do you even know the details of the case? Did not the jury feel that it was a justifiable homicide as a result of self defense? Did not one of the two men that were killed hit one of the alleged "murderers" in the head with a champagne bottle, resulting in the deaths of two men? Of course you don't have a problem with A.B.W's comment—which says a lot about yourself. How are Welker's wife's comments even relevant to Ray Lewis's play on the field? What is to be derived by dredging up the negative events of a man's past that happened 13 years ago—of which the full details are NEVER discussed? Does it make you feel better about yourself? A lot of good it did for A.B.W. huh? Now, she looks doubly stupid for apologizing.

- Little too late for the apology! She meant what she said..just own up to it, you B*TCH! Just makes you look like a sore loser & uneducated! Get the facts straight before you go making accusations that are not true. He has NEVER been married, nor has he murdered anyone. And for anyone to call him a thug...RACIST MUCH?!?! Comments like that make you look UGLY...

- Anna Welker is a bimbo. Someone who posts nude pictures on the web shouldn't be throwing stones at someone who seems to be trying to change their life and perseption. Anna put some clothes on and talk about something you know about. The patriots are a classless organization and you fit right in with them.

- Ray Lewis WASN'T cleared of murder! He took a plea deal, and testified against two others who were aquitted. Meanwhile he plead quilty to misleading police, was fined by the NFL. He ended up in Civil court, and was forced to pay. (Civil court does not have the higher standard criminal court would have) So MY question? If he plead guilty to a serious charge, AND ended up paying for civil court regarding murder, why was he allowed to play in the NFL? Baltimore may know the story, but the rest of the nation is just now learning about this story. This is not about a Hooters girl.....this is about Ray Lewis and the NFL's inaction.

- No, right now this is about Mrs Welker who needs to put a sock in it. I never thought in a million years I'd be defending Ray Lewis, but today he shows more class than she does, no matter his past.

- Ray Lewis was cleared of murder;the charges were dismissed in an exchange of a lessor misdemeanor charge of obstruction of justice. (go look up the official court transcripts online.) The prosecution knew they did not have enough evidence to convict Ray Lewis, so they took a gamble by offering him a plea, and the case ended with no convictions. What is this "serious charge" that you claim Lewis pleaded to anyway? If you want to know the real story, go look up the official court transcripts—and stop jumping on the media bandwagon of trying to convict—via the media.
