Sandusky asks Pa. court to see his grandchildren

Jerry Sandusky, the former Penn State assistant football coach charged with sexually abusing boys, leaves the Centre County Courthouse in Bellefonte, Pa., Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, after waiving his preliminary hearing. The decision moves him toward a trial on charges of child sex abuse. At least some of his 10 accusers had been expected to testify at Tuesday's hearing. (AP Photo/Matt Rourke)

BELLEFONTE, Pa. - The former Penn State assistant football coach charged with child molestation asked for court permission Friday to see his grandchildren, visits currently prohibited under his bail conditions.

A motion filed in Centre County court seeks to allow Jerry Sandusky to contact his 11 grandchildren by email, phone, text and Skype, and to let them visit his central Pennsylvania home if accompanied by a parent.

Authorities allege Sandusky sexually abused 10 boys over a 15-year span. Sandusky has said he is innocent. He is currently under house arrest and forbidden from having contact with anyone under 18.

"Jerry's grandchildren want to see him, and he very much wants to see them," Sandusky's lawyer, Joe Amendola, wrote in an email to The Associated Press.

A 12th grandchild is expected "in the near future," according to the motion.

A judge has scheduled a hearing for Feb. 10.

While the grandchildren are innocent of wrong-doing, it doesn't make sense for them to have personal visitation with Mr. Sandusky. He's accused of serious sexual abuse against children and over a long period of time. He definitely should not be rewarded with visits; maybe a monitored phone call or mail?

Being that Sandusky sought and had contact outside of "normal" channels, it sounds unsafe for the kids. Apparently all the accusers have the "smoking gun", contact with Sandusky when others were not present. That is the opposite of everyone else, at the end of a day, we all rush out the door, get in our car and go home.

Why would any Judge give a pervert the right to be with in reach of Children?

I wonder how the parents of the grandchildren feel about this? I doubt that any of them want him to have contact with their child. Sandusky is still in denial and needs to be locked up in jail.

Maybe he is not that dangerous? Maybe they do not have enough evidence? For being the most notorious accused pedophile this country has ever known one would think he would not be free...

I have to wonder if All the Kings Men cannot get this guy, how is it that Joe Paterno is blamed?

it was a short article, read the whole thing please. He wants to be able to skype, text, e-mail, or visit them in person with a parent present.
