The one question you didn't ask, that I would like to know the answer to is this: Did this kid's mother have those weapons locked in a gun safe that no one but her had access to? Evidently the answer is no. The NRA's original purpose was to teach gun safety. I don't know what it is now. The NRA resists the ideas of background checks On weapons buyers, licensing people to use guns with training required to get that license, documenting who buys what weapon and where the purchase is made and limiting the purchase and use of assault weapons. None of these ideas denies the right to own a weapon for legitimate use by responsible individuals.
