Romney: "I don't care about re-elections"

(CBS News) Mitt Romney said on Sunday that he is not concerned with getting re-elected, and cares only about getting the country "right."

In an interview on "Face the Nation," the presumptive Republican nominee said, "I am in this race because I want to get America back on the right track," adding, "I don't care about re-elections, I don't care about the partisanship that goes on. I want to get America right."

Host Bob Schieffer pushed Romney and asked if he would be OK serving just one term should he be elected.

"Look, I'm going to do whatever I think is right to get America right. But for me this is not about politics," Romney responded. "We're getting very close to a dangerous cliff and we have got to pull back and we've got to work together."

Romney pointed to his time as governor in a Democratic state as proof that he can move beyond partisanship that has tied up Washington in gridlock.

"Heck, I was in a state where my legislature was 87-percent Democrat, and we faced some tough times. We worked together. I didn't get everything I wanted; they didn't get everything they wanted. They got most of what they wanted," he said.

"We've got to have people who are willing to put aside the partisanship, stop worrying about the next elections, and say, 'You know what? We've got to fix the country fast,'" Romney said.

Every time Romney opens his mouth lies just spill out like a fountain. His statements of he doesn't have a political carreer, or that "he is not concerned with getting re-elected, and cares only about getting the country "right." Right by whos standards? The GOP has been assaulting the middleclass, women and the poor for the past 4 years. Trying in every way to limit what choices people have, mand removing benefits right and left.
Since the same GOP leaders have fallen into lock step with Romney we can only expect that their extreme agenda is supported by Romney too.
Our country's economy cannot survive another round of trickle down economics, and the creation of an upper class of wealthy citizens who are the privilaged few while the rest of us get the droppings. Romney has tried everything to get elected, will say anything too. As a former corporate raider turned politician, Romney has developed a sales pitch based on "tell them what they want to hear", but absolutely tell them nothing with importance or about his policies.
I guess American voters are that easy to sway with murky facts and claims that can't be substaniated, including the lies.

How is Mitt Romney get America on Track? He promised the same when he became the Gov. of MA. During four years of Romney's rule in MA, the jobs creation rank of MA slipped from 35th in nation to 47th. He has three positions on every issue; distant past, recent past and present. I don't trust this guy. Would you?

Mitt Romney is not a fresh start, he's a rerun of W. Bush economic policies that led to 2008 financial meltdown. The Bush economic policy did not build the economy and the middle class, but greater inequality while super rich like Romney income increase by 300%. By the way, Romney wants working poor and middle class to pay for super rich tax cut. For example, working poor who makes less than 20K a year, they would pay 60% higher taxes, while people who make more than 1 million a year would get 15% tax cut under Romney's plan. Further, he will hand Medicare and public education to corporation to run, so they can increase their bottom line.

Mitt Romney said he wants long term solution for immigration; however, he and Republican leaders have rejected the Dream Act, which was the long term solution that had 55 bipartisan voted in 2010, but Republican leaders used filibuster process to kill the bill.

As to the accuracy of your tax forecast of Romney's plan, I'll give you a quote posted in a different article from this same interview in "Face the Nation": The nonpartisan Tax Policy Center has analyzed Romney's plan based on information available. "'Because Gov. Romney has not specified how he would increase the tax base, it is impossible to determine how the plan would affect federal tax revenues or the distribution of the tax burden,' the Tax Policy Center notes in their analysis." Interesting that the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center states that they can't calculate the distribution of the tax burden under Romney's plan, but you somehow can. Care to give us the source of your insider information?

As for the Dream Act, that policy was far from comprehensive and the program was in essence an amnesty program which the majority of Americans are against. The idea of Dream Act of providing conditional permanent resident that leads to permanent residency is wrong. Why should the children of parents that have obeyed and waited in line be jumped over by children of parents who disrespected our laws?

The Dream Act did nothing to address border security, nor did it dealt with of what happens with their parents. As it stood, the children would've had a fast-track to citizenship, which would help their lawbreaking parents gain legal status over law-abiding immigrants. The new executive order avoids some of those problems by being less bold, but it should be addressed by Congress. Democrats lost their mandate in 2010, because the American public took it away.

The GAO has said that Romney's 20% tax cut for all would double the deficit. Since the deficit would go from $1 trillion to $2 trillion, he would have to cut Medicare, Social Security and Defense spending to balance the budget.

Romney wants the tax rate at 25% for all, giving those that are above the 25% a taxcut and those below 25% a tax increase. So he's only anti tax for those above 25%.

So now he is for a flat tax, which is definitely a tax break for the rich. Once the GAO scores this one, he would have to eliminate Social Security AND Medicare completely and STILL not balance the budget.

Romney have said that he will repeal sensible regulation such as the Dodd Frank and kill the Volcker Rule, so Wall Streets and big banks can play casino without any rule.

That's good because the economic jobs picture won't be recovering until 2018 or later, so re-election will betough regardless.
