McCain: U.S. must lead in Syria

(CBS News) On "Face the Nation," Sen. John McCain said the United States should "lead" in the conflict against the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad because the rebels are engaged in an uneven matchup.

"We, along with other countries, and we lead for a change, lead. Not lead from behind but lead from in front. They're waiting for American leadership," said McCain, R-Ariz., referring to a common critique of the president by Republicans who say the president has not taken a leadership role in international affairs.

McCain, who is ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, told host Bob Schieffer that current support by the U.S. is not adequate.

"We have announced that we are now providing them with non-lethal equipment. That doesn't do very well against tanks and artillery," he said. "We need to get a sanctuary for the Free Syrian Army. We need to get them supplies; we need to get them weapons."

"It's not a fair fight. It's not a fair fight." McCain said.

However, McCain drew the line at directly involving the U.S. military. "No boots on the ground, no unilateral action," he said. "But for the United States to sit by and watch this wanton massacre is a betrayal of everything we stand for and believe in."

McCain discussed his trip to the Syrian border where he met with the Free Syrian Army leadership and the Syrian National Council.

"In the refugee camps we heard the stories of the murder, of the torture, of the rape that's going on," McCain said.

The senator added: "Again, Russia and china continue to veto any significant effort that comes from the United Nations. How many times are we going to push that reset button? It's time for the United States to lead."

Syria and Iran are being simultaneously undermined by Israeli and US covert forces in order to sever the conduit of defensive rockets flowing to Israel 's victims in Gaza and Lebanon . These vital weapons give Israel pause before it launches other wars of aggression like those it launched in 2006 and 2008 on innocent unarmed people as it continues illegally expanding its yet-undeclared borders.

I truly do feel bad for John McCain for the horrific experience that he has gone through, but wonder how much of that experience is possibly today triggering a revengeful attitude for pursuing military actions where they are not warranted--actions that could bring us into a WWIII-and destroy so many lives! I wonder if he has ever--or as of late--had to undergo a psychiatric or psychological evaluation to determine if he might have deep-seated anger issues related to his traumatic experience, and if his actions and suggestions are subconsciously, or consciously actually a way to achieve his own personal vengeance for his trauma suffered--and where he sees an opportunity to do so? His father, John S McCain Jr was involved in the cover-up of one of the most brutal attacks in history--on an American ship--the USS Liberty--attacked by Israel--and betrayed by their own government--and our very own John McCain III has continued those lies about that attack-and endorses the deceit in Jay Cristol's book about the Liberty attack. 34 men of the Liberty died that horrible day on June 8,
1967, and 171 were wounded--many of them severely--but the survivors of this atrocity still to this day have not had their voices heard, for almost 45 years--it is time for us to listen now! Israel is ultimately behind moving the US government to support a take over in Syria. The US Government and it's puppets have sponsored this unrest, and are willing to use US money and blood to install a pro Israel, pro US government there.

Would the US stand for a foreign government sponsoring attacks on it's government buildings and police force? I believe in such a case we would see retaliation greater than we have seen in Syria.

There are now 1.5 Million homeless children in America, the land by and for the people. However we spend more fighting Israel's wars and trying to create a world in line with Israel's wishes than we do taking care of our own people.
