Super Tuesday leaves McCain worried about November

(CBS News) Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney "clearly" had a triumphant night on Super Tuesday, but his six wins were "maybe not enough" for someone who wants to win the presidency, GOP Sen. John McCain told "Face the Nation" anchor Bob Schieffer on "Face to Face."

"The longer this goes out, the worse our chances are," McCain said of the Republican primary. "I have to tell you, it makes me very worried about our chances to win in November."

The five-term senator and 2008 Republican presidential candidate noted that the longer a hard-fought race continues, the more a candidate's unfavorable ratings are driven up. It leaves a candidate vulnerable to making more gaffes and creating a negative impression in voters' minds.

"You know that every single day of a campaign is a day you can't do over," he said.

McCain said it was "curious" that a candidate like Rick Santorum, who has a history of supporting earmarks, has claimed the mantle of the conservative alternative to Romney. Still, the senator said it wasn't up to him to tell either Santorum or Gingrich to exit the race.

Let it be told as spoken by the GOP/tea party supporters-- aren't worried about this election coming in November..

So the maverick(mccain) is worried?

WHY?

Its not about the president ..it's about the GOP presidential nominees hopefuls...the nominees are NOT transcending outside of their party to the american people ans at this point they should be..and from what i see if any would go toe to toe with the president..the president would smash all of the GOP nominee hopefuls.. and again I'll say.. the (Tea Party) created a strench upon representation to the american people and around the world with regard to this president's character, his race, family, wife, children, is relatives to the level of beastility, racial parody-(etc.,)ALL NEGATIVE....which insults the INTELLIGENCE of the american voter.. and so now ENTERED the element to unprotect the PRIVACY OF WOMEN'S RIGHTS AND HER WOMB..so the list is endless to the GOP/Tea Party demagoguery over these last couple of years...

It's not a done deal by far for President Obama in either direction... and no I'm not a democrat.... but a independent!

I find it interesting that on most of these posts, that supporters of President Obama fail to list reasons regarding WHY they support him; they fail to list his accomplishments over the past 3 years.

Most of the liberals supporting President Obama say that they support him because he is not President Bush. This is 2012 - not 2008 - President Bush is not running. Supporters of President Obama make smirk comments about Republicans, but they don't list the facts concerning President Obama. Anyone can make goofy comments - and free speech allows it. Supporters of President Obama can only really add credibility to their support by listing the accomplishments of President Obama over the past three years.

The problem with supporting President Obama is that his failures and horrible policies put in place far outweigh any accomplishment.

Maybe not enough MAYBE, that is for sure he loses in a head to head toe to toe match up with the President and only beats Ron Paul by 2 percentage points.

I would say if you bet on Mitt DON'T the odds are not looking good for him.

mccain should shut his pie hole. he was the gop nominee with wins to get it but was handed a humiliating landslide defeat by a relatively unknown, obama. mccain is so arrogant that he won't admit that selecting palin as his running mate was a huge mistake that most likely drove voters to obama's waiting arms. no should listen to mccain, the man who called libyian rebels his heroes. those same libyian rebels today are accused of murder and torture just as qaddafi was charged with when in power. libya is a mess thanks to him and others like him including obama who spent one billion in military missions to overthrow qaddafi. mccain should retire and just go away but he is the darling of arizonans a state of some 8 million or so.

McCain supporting Romney is hurting Romney. McCain is talking about getting involved in Syria militarily. The United States public is sick of war. We have been in Afghanistan with all of our armed forces for eleven years, thousands of American soldiers have died fighting people who only have rifles and their feet for transport. Where is the victory in Afghanistan? Why is the Muslim brotherhood now running Egypt. Why is their two countries in Libya where there was one nation before. Now McCain wants to go into Syria. Leave it alone McCain, you and your wars have bankrupted us.
