Christie slams Santorum on college stance

On CBS News' "Face the Nation," New Jersey governor Chris Christie had some harsh words for Rick Santorum over statements he made about higher education. Christie said the former Pennsylvania Senator went "over the line."

Christie was asked by host Bob Schieffer about Santorum dissing President Obama for encouraging a college education.

"President Obama once said he wants everybody in America to go to college - what a snob!" Santorum said in Troy, Michigan Saturday.

"I think that's probably over the line," Christie told Schieffer: "I don't think the president is a snob for saying that."

Christie, who is supporting Mitt Romney, said Santorum's position on higher education doesn't "make any sense." He noted that not every child wants to attend college, but "we should aspire to let every child reach his maximum or her maximum potential."

Schieffer asked Christie if the GOP candidates' focus on social issues will hurt the Republican Party and alienate moderate voters.

Christie said that Romney is not focusing on social issues - only Santorum is.

"We've gone through a couple of weeks where Senator Santorum has made some comments. Remember, it's all Senator Santorum," Christie said.

Well, this sounds so "reasonable", coming from Chris Christie.

However, it's misleading and deceptive, like most of what is uttered by Christie.

If Christie is so "concerned" about making sure kids can go to college, why has he done so much to cut back funding for education in our grade schools and high schools?

Is it because his precious children go to private school that he is so hostile towards public education?

I don't even believe President Obama ever said EVERY high school SHOULD go to college. I believe he said every student should have the opportunity to go to college or some other advance training after high school, if they want to.

Santorum is frequently on the edge of lying. He must know the "Thou shall not bear false witness ..." commandment or doesn't the Catholic Church use it?

I do not believe everyone is capable of home schooling their children. Many parents have to work long hours or sometimes more than one job to support their household, so when would you think they would have time to home school? As far as "liberal indoctrination" goes, it's not really a surprise that those who obtain higher education think on the more liberal side, why do you think the GOP hates it? It's funny how the Romney campaign used that OLD endorsement of Romney - when actually it makes the case AGAINST Romney.

It is certainly excusable that Santorum endorsed Romney BEFORE Romney had ever done anything in government! Rick obviously fell for the specious notion that "Mitt Romney was a businessman who made hundreds of millions of dollars running a business".

Well, it looks like SANTORUM learned from his MISTAKE in falling for that nonsense because that endorsement was BEFORE Mitt Romney had a TRACK RECORD AS AN EXECUTIVE IN GOVERNMENT. That begs the question, what is YOUR excuse Chris Christie?

Mitt has a track record now and he has to circumvent, palliate and outright lie about the records of his opponents in order to distract people from even examining his own.

Back when Mitt ran for Governor, before he became a politician, and Rick ostensibly endorsed him, Rick apparently took the thesis now being crammed down our throats by Coulter and the like - at face value. Sounded good I'm sure; so why wouldn't he - at the time.

But that little hyped up zinger with Romney telling Rick that he called Mitt a conservative way back when Mitt was RUNNING for Governor was extracted from a larger body of work that amounts to an outright butt-kicking of Mitt!

Mitt MUST be defeatied in Michigan. Here is the conservative strategy to unite and end the leftist grip on the GOP.

Is it honor to identify yourself with a pack of cowards? It is cowardly and beyond un-ethical for Dems to say that they are going to vote Independent in Michigan for Sanotorum because they do not have the confidence that Obama can beat Romney fairly. It is also that height of cowardice to draft supporters of one candidate who cannot possibly win over to the one that he feels can actually make him a Vice President. But what else should we expect from Santorum and Gingrich since they are the ones the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington listed for multiple years as the most corrupt politicians in Washington.

Um - where exactly in this article is there any mention of Santorum endorsing Romney? You must be the product of home schooling. Go back and slowly re-read the article. It's okay if you move your lips, just try and retain what is actually there.
